Economy -> the government wants to tax small industries if they do a particular thing. A republican may argue that the gov should stay out of his business.

Ethic -> Gay people have marriage in Califonia (before 2008). Some republicans sponsor a successful campaign to forbid it, as gay marriage hurts their belief. Gay people no longer can marry in California.

To control every facet of people's lives the government needs to be huge and yet small enough to let businesses do whatever the fuck they want? It simply boggles the mind. Boggles.

Indeed your greatest example is right there in the QL team-play community (don't take it personally if this does not apply to you:P), where most of the members are need to play pickups if they want to play. That's because they need to have forced rules to become a worthy community member. On public games, they immediately shows how much their personality is degraded since childhood. They whine, flame, sometimes tier-slumm or rape and wont swap if it's becomes 5vs2, but mostly they just quit.

If you watch healthy kids while they play, there is no problem for them to swap to a losing side, or to play until the game is over, since they are playing for the fun.

But still, these ppl are just egokids with bad personalities. Having fun is nowhere related to business or age, that's one of the greatest beauty of playing.

PS.: and this brings us to your second point: imo to become a successful politician, you must posses the worst human attributes what's possible to achieve, so I honestly can't care less about them.

I think the QL community is one of the oldest around tbh, considering the amount of players played q3 back in the day etc... im 22 and im younger than most people i speak to ;>

TL'ers are WAY less whiny than ESR'ers. Not gonna speak for the entire site but the SC2 forum is generally pretty positive, except for some inevitable balance whining from time to time.

I'd say it's generally pretty bland. Add to that the amount of users (which makes it impossible to remember a reasonable amount) or the mods which ban for anything..

Play is one of the most powerful human tools for learning, creativity and improvement. So perhaps that's not such a terrible loss.

RE: republicans, that has never made sense to me. Why would a party who aims to do everything (or must be seen to do everything) to keep the government from intefering in the free market deem it necessary to make 'moral' judgements leading on people's private lives that directly leads to them taking a legislative and judicial approach on such matters.

It seems completely counterintuitive.
