Somehow this shortcut thingies doesn't work for me and i asked a friend to make guide how to change resolution for blinded people. Here it is:
I main menu where music plays press SPACE, 4xDOWN, SPACE, 2xDOWN, SPACE, 2xDOWN, LEFT/RIGHT to change res, or one more DOWN to switch to windowed.

should work since I got it from the exe file directly,

also: for me, the game never changes to windowed mode from the menu, that's why I posted the command line parameter which worked on all 3 PC I have.

just -windowed did the trick! never realised it'd be so simple :D thanks anyway (+)

you can try to change resolution in settings, perhaps 640x480 will be a bit faster, but the best would be if you could switch back to fullscreen in one of the resolutions.
Don't worry, If you lose signal again, you can easily cure it with -windowed:)

problem is none of the resolutions seem to work in fullscreen! is there a way to force a refresh rate or anything? worried it might be trying to run at 120hz (not possible through hdmi afaik)

120Hz is not a problem via hdmi, but it's not an issue here.

First: uninstall your monitor driver, and let windows redetect it at next boot.

Second: Try dxdiag.exe, and on the last tab (more help) use the override option to tell directx what refresh should be the default. It's very rare when this helps actually, but since it's so easy to do, worth a try imo.

If both failed, you can use one of the free utilities floating on the net to change the default refresh rates for each resolution, but please make a full restore point before you do anything like messing with settings you know little about (XP: Start menu - Programs menu - Accessories menu - System Tools - System Restore)

I used reforce, if you search reforce on youtube I'm sure you will find tutorial for it.

how is 120hz through hdmi possible? the bandwith charts i saw tend to disagree.

Sorry then, perhaps it's my bad. Iirc v1.3 HDMI cables can do 10.2GBPS which could cover 120Hz. pretty easy. Is that false?

last time i searched around the answer was hdmi = no 120hz, not even with the newest version.

According to wikipedia, version 1.3 increased pixel clock to 340Mhz (from 165). and (for example) the Geforce 9 series can do 400Mhz. I'm not into hdmi very much, but wonder why it isn't possible then?
