and he does good in duel

btw hes got one of the wickest sens/accel sets ive seen in my life

don't get fooled by his ctf aim, that is aim on people that don't know they are about to get railed. His rail in duel is fine, its pretty damn nice, but not a strenx/cypher/k1llsen/stermy type rail at all.

He's usually just trying to rail a person instead of setting a trap or finishing with rail - its just worthless damage that makes him lose games he should have won.

He needs to watch cypher to learn when to rail or study k1llsen and learn to go full rail rape - no in between bullshit.

I used to use settings like what you use. It was really great because I could be so accurate and I didn't even have to try, there was no effort and I was 100% consistent.

Only problem was that it took a fair amount of time to turn and stuff.

I turned my sensitivity back up, because I realized later that you can achieve the same accuracy, faster reaction, and better mouse feel by using a higher sensitivity.

At least in quake, I feel like you should not use your forearm to be aiming, all aiming should be done with your wrist because that is the most responsive area of your arm. When I used a setting like yours, I would be using my arm to aim. Some sensitivities are too low to aim with a wrist even if you reposition your mouse like many players do.

Do you not think that it has a terrible mouse feel? It works, sure, but I always felt you lack the kind of control that you can get with a higher sensitivity.

Its not a terrible mouse feel, its personal preference to each person. If I didn't like the feel of how I aim then I wouldn't use it.

I could get technical to how and why it works for me, but that would require too much effort to type out.

I ("tyryl" -- norse god or blackface version of my real name? who knows) uploaded all of mine from the first divisional cup, and I've just uploaded my games from the first and second groupstages, vs Slasher, demex, and rey_ ... save for the firs tmap vs rey where I acted like a complete dick and just got obliterated because I guess I thought I was going to run over rey after having won over him in the first cup's finals.

a couple of these are worth watching (by the fact that they are close, tense games, not necessarily the most skillful), t7 vs demex and ztn vs rey, in particular. I now don't feel bad about having lost to rey, someone's who's apparently taken t7 from DaHanG in a tourney and beaten ZeRo4 in a finals (iirc?). and watching him play vs raul_ and dragaox in the finals, I was pretty impressed, honestly. (although not so surprised by the maps those guys picked as the shoutcasters perplexingly were, not to mention how obnoxiously misinformed/paranoid they are about things like judge throwing matches when he's clearly drunk and stuff.) rey's a good player and I wish the dude luck in premier.

yea they are weird. it really doesn't mean anything and I feel so self-conscious about even having a "name" (I feel weird when people even call me by my given name, online or otherwise), but I think it was originally just supposed to be some sort of joke name based on the odd cultural obsesion of names beginning with "tyr," like tyrell and tyrone. "real" is also sort of an urban word and "ryl" is a more romantic version, so I guess tie real. I don't care, though. leave me alone =(

also my real name is daryl so that's a cool coincidence. another coincidence is that the last three letters of my first name are also the last three letters in "benadryl," which is a crazy but awesome drug. hi walter.

wow you said a mouthful! thanks for posting those...and I didn't think too much about your name,but at first glance, I thought your name was just sarcastic like "thank you, really" but I'm a bit dyslexic and put it together as "tyrly" instead of how you explained.

*edit* - watched your t7-demex match:
+ like your Coollerish obsession with the pwrups
+ though he was hitting better shots, you out-itemanaged him into double OT somehow.
+ unpredictable aggression; like that you play lots of defense mixed with aggro chase strat.
- you don't look completely comfortable on t7. I've seen demex's movement-fu, and he's smoother, so his shots come easier.

Im pretty much just like 2GD, able to analyze the game but in-game i fuck up and make mistakes since i have no nerves for duel. I know how to win, i just can't execute it properly like rapha. Although i enjoy it

I think you give yourself too much credit.

Any regular here on ESR can analyze the game and understand the logistics of it.

It is a far different task to actually perform, as you have admitted. So then why do you post on threads with the know-it-all attitude giving everyone advice. If what you say is true, you aren't providing any insight they don't already know.

I remember you telling noctis stuff about how to beat rapha. You think he, with his years of dueling experience, can't analyze his own game well enough to see what is going wrong?

I think you ought to realize that the reason why X dueler is not rapha or cypher is not because he needs your help, but because, just like you, it is a matter of execution.

No, I don't think i'm better than them. I am just pointing out what i see the best do and what others are lacking to catch up to them. It's like a coach telling his players what style of play to use versus another team. It's hard to be introspective sometimes, you just need another perspective or someone to remind you to do what you already know.

And i wasn't giving noctis tips on how to beat rapha. He whines about lg players and having a bad lg aim himself so he can't even try to shaft duel these guys.

I was simply reminding him how rapha/cooller attempt to defeat shaft whores because noctis kept trying to out aim strenx, and got raged...

p.s. probaby more negatives than +'s to implement, but video comments/replies could clear up misinterpretation I think, since gestures&tone make up like 60-70% of a message compared to 30-40% text/content.
Practically, in a thread like this, text is best for all the numerical, factual info. Can imagine the hilarious abuse of such a system though.

I just started using a CRT @ 120Hz. I was on a 60Hz LCD before with some 20ms input lag. I've been out aiming most everyone in duels since the switch, when I'm sober and everything's working at least. I'm still adapting my gameplay to that, though. I'm not used to having the better aim and it's something you have to learn to incorporate into your play, which is the problem.

I don't know how to attack on t7 because I've not played it much. I had the same problem in my last hektik game vs rey. I had control for most of the map but just didn't deal damage. on ztn I was constantly putting him under pressure even when I wasn't pushing in for a frag, however, owing to the fact that I know the map, angles, and routes a lot better. so having aim and using it are two different things really.

eh? Every person has a balance of aim/movement for quake, which depends on config. This is why we tweak our configs to get the right amount of each.

For me, I can hit either 60+ rail or 45+ lg, but not both at the same time.

This is because tankjr for lg is easier to track and keel is easier to rail. I have tried an immense amount of config changes to try to get both of those guns to be high at the same time with the same config, but that doesn't work for me.

In the end I choose which 1 is more consistent and will serve me better (the rail)

Duelers need their movement to be very precise so that they don't bounce into a wall or some shit or mess up an angled rocketjump. This is to save time and get into position quicker. I can aim way higher with a lower fov, but it costs me fluidity in my movements and dodging.

And that is why most use 100-ish fov for duel and +zoom their asses off when its safe to.
