i don't think you can change the dpi on that mouse...

installing setpoint will make the mx310 run at 800 dpi ... and skip at a lower speed than without setpoint, at 400 dpi.
The driver can easily be found on logitech support page, but i really don't recommend to use it.

I have installed 4.8 and 6.2 versions, none of them make dpi change to 800dpi :/

I can't really help you. When i got mine in 2006, the driver given with the mouse would do it. I can't tell you what version it was tho :)
You should keep it @400 dpi any, that mouse sucks @800

it"s not a fake, it's just that the new (korean) g1 uses 1000 dpi. Should be as good as the old ones.
Anyway I'm going home this weekend, i'll check if i have my old cd to see the driver version

How can You be sure about that these mice are genuine? There is no mention about it on logitech site :/ When I receive it i will dissasembly it and check out if it use Adns s2020 sensor.

PS. guy from logitech support told me that if setpoint driver will recongnize it it's probably genuine one

mx310 has really bad shape imo. my friend had it, couldn't stand it, mx300(G1!) is far more superior :P

WMO would be nice but as I already experienced them, I'd rather prefer IE3 with it's side buttons, which was my second option before buying WMO :)

a tip: the salmosa is very similar in size to the logitech g1 - I own both. I would go for it, although you would have to more than just the shipping costs for it ^^

Any logitech old mice will be compatible with current Mx518 setpoint.
Search drivers for Mx518 they will recognise G1 G3 Mx400 Mx300 etc.
GL with G1 and Mx310.

Setpoint drivers are really crappy, it wouldn't advice installing them either.

That's an old mouse but from what I remember it can't get true 800DPI. It's said you can in the drivers but trust me, it will feel like shit. And you should avoid those drivers at all costs. SetPoint is bad enough but MouseWare is much worse.

logitech drivers are pure evil, don't you remember the horror stories from back in the day when we realized that nothing short of a format would get rid of them?

drivers = another useless layer fucking with your input, don't use them unless you have a valid reason to do so.

You need to install the old, old, old mouseware drivers (someone already posted a link).

Then reboot.

The 310 or 510 don't benefit as far as increasing the max perfect control speed when setting polling rate to 500 (yes even though the 310 at least does only 450)?

Bumping since none of the methods here work on Windows 7.

Mouseware doesn't work, the only thing that does is Setpoint 310 - 32 bit version or 64 bit.

Then set the compatability mode to XP SP2 and install and you'll have 800 dpi.
