bc2 is awesome, really good atmosphere and big team battles are fun. feels like theres about 1000 people playing with big explosions and gun fire all over the place.
vietnam add on just came out today which im playing right now!
Been playing vietnam myself for the last few days... while its cheap as chips at 10 quid for the expansion, its lacking in a lot of ways if you ask me.
atmosphere is great but the fact you cant see shit against the jungle backgrounds makes it a nightmare - that and limited weapons / addons for each kind of let it down.
most of the time you will die due to shitty netcode, explosive spam or vehicles. it could be a great game with a promod but sadly its made for the masses where even the worst player should be able to get frags.
also its imbalanced as fuck in a way where less skillful things gain you a fuckton of points and actual killing is not worth as much score (yeah who cares, atleast killing is fun). you can actually win the ace pin (highest score in a match) by griefing your teammates and chain resurrecting them into enemy fire
it does have its moments when you go on a killing spree getting tons of frags, but its the #1 game that has made me rage the most, ever. also the maps in general are totally awful, promoting gameplay where you sit in an ammo box spamming grenades/carl gustav/40mm grens. yeah there's an actual anti-infantry bazooka in the game with massive splash damage, but doesnt work vs vehicles. still 90% of the engineers are carrying this on every map. and the vehicle spawn rate and amount of vehicles per map is totally out of control on some maps.
the only thing that excists is pub-play but you're stuck with a team full of retards. we played it with a squad of 4-6 RL mates at a time on pub server, takes 2 hours for everyone to get on the same side but once you get there, it might be fun some of the time. :)
It's an awesome game, actually I liked it more that ET:QW which I also played for some time (hit reg is better, every class can contribute to objective completion).
But yeah, if you never raged in video games, you will be suprised by yourself during the time while you will learn basic gameplay mechanics.
It's fun, especially when you play with friends in a squad. One good squad can easily dominate on a 32 player server. If you're an old quake player the aim will be easy to pick up...you'll need to learn to burst as in cs, but when you learn how the different weapons handle you'll be picking up alot of frags. Takes some time to learn the maps, positioning and different routes so you don't get shot in the back all the time. The vehicles are in no way as dominant as they were in BF2, so if there's a tank or heli that's causing problems you can easily take it out if you're a squad or even just by yourself. And tbh there aren't alot of vehicles in BC2.
Lots of players play it so it's easy to find servers. The different game modes are Rush (one team defends, the other team attacks and tries to detonate the bombs), Conquest (try to control the different flag zones on the map) and you have squad rush and squad dm that I rarely play.
