wat? 2gd is involved in it? i got the e-mail about beta launch because i used to play anarchy online and was like meh but hearing that makes me sort of want.
The guy probably has a life so maybe he doesn't vigorously follow absolutely EVERYTHING that is going on in ESR topics and QL tourney coverages and could miss several hundreds mentions of 2gd's involvement in BLC.
Well, there is a single player mode for practice purpose. Haven't played it much so dunno if the AI is any good or not (not that it would be much fun to play an AI in this type of game anyway).
Tried it, as 2gd said about it @ last dreamhack, but those type of arena games dont really fit my taste, didnt lasted long on my hdd.
2gd move ur ass back to esl or something :C
I played it for like 2 hours now. Ranid assasin and I have to say it is actually quite fun. Despite my shit internet connection it felt really smooth nothing compared to wow arena 150ms+ shit.
I will definitively give it a try after my exams in February. Now I kinda understand why 2gd said that he wanted to revolutionize esports. Id should take a look at this game and see how ladders, ingame chat, punishment for leavers, voip and tournaments are implemented prefect into a game. Imo the skillcap in this game is pretty high, no random shit the only thing I doubt is the balance and the low amount of skills can get boring :P. Needs further testing from my side. No more stupid honor grind, leveling and whatever. Only arena :D
Btw. it is for free. You can play 4 characters which change on a weekly basis if I'm not wrong and you can unlock the chars on bye one.
This game seriously needs a bump. Been playing the game for two weeks now. It's a shitload of fun. Even tho there's still a lot of important (to me, that is) features missing, it's very polished. There's some tournaments popping up now and I hope to see some ESRers/old Quake players over there as well. :)
Afaik you can 'only' do 3v3 or 2v2 teams. With no spare mate you could add. So the whole 'clan' exists out of up to three people, which sucks. No proper clans yet. :(
Clans are being implimented, not sure how many months left on that. also about revolutionizing eSports, once the ingame tournament system is inplace and later fully functional, i'm putting eSports directly ingame where tournaments can handle upto millions of teams and still award eSport style prizes. and later can even be sponsored.
its also worth noting that the tournaments come under 3 different skill levels (in my design, stunlock studios have tweaked alot to make it fit BLC, but they have done so brilliantly).
PRO
PRO-AM
&AM
and since these tournaments run simultaniously, it means that PRO's cant enter the am or pro-am tournaments and win their prizes.
What im trying todo is prove eSports as a successfull business model from the developer POV. if it works. I'd idealy like to offer it to games like Quake and more. but step one is proving it.
Anyone still playing this game?
Trying to climb the solo ladder as a seeker. Sometimes it is a bit frustrating because you get stuck with a grade 1 guy who doesn't know shit and you'll lose 20 points ://///. I might be able to carry such a bady later on when I reach a certain level but right know it is impossible. I hope they gonna fix this otherwise I'll wait till they do it. And the timing out bug is shit aswell. Had it 6 times yesterday night.
The game needs more players and a fixed smm.
If someone wants to play a few games add me ffxN
Ah and ban disconnecter/leaver. I don't care whether they have bad conncetions or whatever. % leaves = ban, Grade 5 to play smm and they won't create fakeaccounts. Really frustrating.
I like this game alot, alot of skill involved and always online tournaments going. It will be played on dreamhack with a decent prize pool aswell, hopefully it will get big in esports
For the moment, all I can attest to is that Quake players can make a shift to BC rather easily, for good or bad. The control schemes are very similar and intuitive.
Personally, so far, I'm enjoying the game. But I'm a complete n00b to this entire genre. Heed my warning.
The simplicity and intuitive mechanics won me over. Whether the game has any lasting appeal is something I'm not quite sure of as of yet.
