Groups have been published yesterday. First matchweek starts 24. January, so all matches must be agreed on by Sunday 23. January or will be forced by admins. More info can be found on NC TDM and NC CTF cup pages.
Serbia is equal to all those nations or might even be better than some of them.
Imo Slovakia and Slovenia are equaly bad :)
They should be split just based on that.
But in all honesty i wouldn't know how to make these groups even.
Almost each nation has one or two star (*EC*) players. Altho it's more about how well do they get along and that is difficult to predict.
have you even checked the lineups or just imaging what kind of line-ups those countries could get if their best players were playing?
im sure i'll get flamed for this but i dont care:
TOP: sweden - poland - UK - france
HIGH: denmark - finland - serbia - hungary
MEDIUM: russia - germany - czech - belgium
LOW: norway - slovenia - portugal - slovakia
group a: belgium, czech and russia almost equal here, but i wouldnt put them higher than 'average', even if they have some great players. russia used to be stand-out but now team russia = iP, team that WILL be great, but isnt quite yet. only great team is poland, rest are equal
group b: finland, denmark good teams, france stand out. portugal is a bit weaker. so 3 good teams in the group, and imo all 3 are better than the teams in group a (besides poland)
group c: sweden doesnt have the lineup it used to, but still the standout team. serbia is good, slovakia and slovenia weaker. so 2 good teams total
group d: uk and hungary are good, germany and norway much weaker, especially if abso only plays ctf
as it is now, group b basicly has 3 teams that have the potential to reach atleast semis. the problem with belgium, czech and germany is that they have some stars but thats about it. some teams can be switched around between medium and high though i think. im not completely convinced by serbia being a high seed (same for finland 8)), they did well last season but the only good team they won against was uk without deus. i also feel like hungary is relatively weaker now than lets say 1½ years ago.
yeah could be i underestimate them, i held them in very high regard before playing the ESH game. they seem to do well vs others but just lose a lot to us on most maps. they have very good individual players for sure
Last year finalists (poland, france, serbia, UK) are top seeded teams for this NC. Basically groups can't be done better, they can be modified only to suit some teams more and some less. Group C is prolly the weakest one, with others being equally good. So if we would switch slovakia or slovenia from C with some other team in other group, that group would be the weakest as group C is now.
Basically it can't be done much better, its only preference of some teams/players to have easier group they are in.
Oh and russia =/= iP and Finland =/= xt as national team can't field only players from one team in any match. I hope everyone read the rules regarding National Players.
Never understood that rule. A national team is suppose to be the best players/team in the country. If it happens to be the case for those teams/countries, let them play with their A team and not some B team since there are rules like this in gaming that does not make any sense :)
This is not directly towards you, but the only time I have had the chance to comment about this.
Ps: This has nothing to do with Russia/Finland having better/worse players in those clans or other clans. Just don't like this rule, period!
well, you might be right, especially what vor said about small scene as QL is, and I agree it's maybe not best suited for QL. But on the other hand I understand what they (CB) trying with that rule: to be real 'National Team', cause if u play only with one team like xt is, it's basically xt team playing not Finland representation (doesn't matter its finland players).
Again, I'm only enforcing CB rules right now, I'm not making them and it must be followed (for this season at least), until something is changed on CB regarding this rule.

I think the old rule was that max two players could be from the same clan.. depending on the team size of course. This is probably as best as it will ever get.
My guess is it was introduced because of counter strike. Pretty much all teams had players from the same country. So it appeared as if EC and NC were the same thing. People in charge didn't want that.
Existing teams that play a lot together have much better teamplay than some national teams that are made out of good (random) players. National teams usually only have a month to prepare and practice.
Also the rule is there to prevent abuse, so that captain can't pick his own clan only to play for NC. That probably wouldn't happen in QL, it's more common in CoD series.
Easier to switch or move around key players to clans.
Also look at reported and unreported clans in countries like:
Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Romania etc ...
It's not like there are dozens of them. There are two acclaimed clans if country is lucky enough. Or it's players are in international clans or freebies.
So the rule is quite a strain on smaller countries.
"Team captains may apply for an exception by mailing a request to both Cup supervisors. Exceptions will only become valid once they have been validated by the Cup supervisors and the Chief of Cups."
Here's the solution in case of a country with not that many players or only 1 active clan.
Seeding could be done much better if all teams had their lineups visible on their national clans.
Altho i kind of agree with your rating i think some teams could go either way. It's not as easy as playing them in 4 skill groups by 4 :)
I think the only team that could absolutely be placed as top is Poland. Not so sure about Sweden really.
Would help a lot if teams in medium started playing against each other :)
waaat, portugal beat the czech in last esl nc !
and nearly beat belgium
and all of this without any practice or any kind of communication (no ts !)
but we'll get heavily raped anyway lol :<
