Overclocking the Mouse USB port
Some Logitech and Microsoft mice have a huge performance boost when you overclock the mouse port, because of an interface limit. Specifically they are: Logitech's MX300 & MX500 and Microsoft's WMO, IE3.0 & Laser 6000. My recommendation is to set the USB rate to 500Hz for these mice, but using a USB tool that only affects the port that has the mouse plugged in. The response on other mice did not change when overclocking the USB port (or they had a higher clock rate by default).

OH I thought you just got DA3.5g now why are you using Mx500?
Besides test rate in 2007 are not as good as 2011 there has a lot of changes happened during past 4 years so don't base on them.

Mx500/ 518 are no good for 1000hz they dont reach 1000hz only 250hz is stable and if you want best out of them use PS/2 and tweak to 200hz will give you best performance.

P.S. 500hz is not very stable but it is playable.
And dont go on any test made by any player. Just use what is suitable for you.

Anyway, I was under the impression that plenty people were using the MX500 @ 1000Hz?

I was briefly able to get mine to run @ 1000Hz stably. But I forgot how I did it, and, alas, was unable to reconstruct what I had done.

Been messing around this thing for several hours now. I simply cannot get it (or any other Logitech mouse) above 629Hz.

Funny thing is, my MX510 also now goes to 629Hz. In all the years I've had it, it has never gone over 450Hz...

I also have a G1 and a MX300. Both of them peak around 629Hz as well (in today's testing). :o

Logitech mice wont reach 1000hz so just use 250 or 500 and which wont give you negative acceleration or playable.

Dont look what others using with that mouse! some players will use 400dpi some 1600 some 1800 and that doesnt mean those settings will suit you.

You need to find your own settings mate.

1) don't listen to toop, ps/2 > usb for mice? yeah, right.

2) next to no one uses 1000hz if you'd listen for once you'd quickly know why.

3) use 500hz.

Ever tried playing with PS/2 :) with 200hz tweak polling.
Then compare with 200hz vs 250hz usb with Mx518 then talk.

Oh by the way, is it true what I hear:
The original MX518 will do 1000Hz stably @ 400dpi, and performs just as well as a MX500 @ 1000Hz?

the MX518 is just as good as the MX500 at 400 DPI if ran at the same refresh rate, just that the MX518 was measured at 1600/1800 DPI (its maximum) and the MX500 at 400 DPI (its maximum) in sujoy's mousescore 2k7

I was just under the impression that the MX300/500 were supposed to poll stably @ 1000Hz.

I guess I was wrong. :)

1) even 250hz is enough to get the same max speed perfomance as at 1000hz
2) set 500hz instead, stable as fuck and 1ms difference
3) make sure the mouse is set to 400dpi(setpoint MUST be uninstalled, mouseware might be installed with an option 'speed' ticked instead of 'control')
4) mx518 performs the same when set at 400dpi, and it also doesnt run stable 1000hz, you could also set it at 500
