You could try this as a quick fix...

From title screen...

\Devmap <mapname> (/Devmap pro-q3dm6)

If its all networked they should just be able to join by joining a lan game or using the /connect command and defining the local ip such as /connect 192.168.0.X (assumes likely setup)

You might have to play around with pmove or something if the physics are not right. I don't know a better answer off top of head or if one even exists becuase its classed as a cheat and so I never needed to go there and its been so long.



P.S.

If you go back a few versions you might find that that command is not cheat protected.

I said overall. If someone runs a 10.5 seconds in sprinting they are considered slow compared to pros, it doesn't mean that they are slow. Does brad pitt have a bad body when comapring it to a body builder? Yes. To the rest of the world. NO.

I run 10.5 across many different areas and the reason I don't run quicker is becuase I'm not at that age where its viable to dump years of my time shaving of a half a second.

you can only do that when you're a teenager, early 20's and I done that in SF and I indeed rattle other pros.

Its all about balance. When you focus on getting best at one thing, its risky,especially in gaming as if the game dies,so does your skill set.

Look at the reality for a quake pro?

No real prospects, busting you ass for a few 1000 dollars, its a joke, they might be a hero in their little demographic at the end of the net, but that intself is also a joke that will die when those people get older and realise a 50% railgun will get you nowhere and you will probably pay for that skill in terms of education and work expereince.

To me gaming is about balance. Yeah I get beat by pro, but I understand everything and I know why I lose, its not becuae I don't have what it takes, its because I don't play for hours a day tuning myself up cos I know it'll turn to shit. Getting that extra railgun and shaft %, consuming my life with sniping angles and clogging it with all the other crap you need to. Its a distaction that no one can maintain. That's why I rate CZm so highly, he was one of the best and went through princeton. He doesn't need to win at quake ever again. He did it.

I can walk into pretty much any game dev in the world and be considered an expert in fighting/driving/shooting games, I can design parametes that most game devs of these games don't even know about. Even those who think they can.

So for me, my definiton of pro is diffrent and in most peoples eyes too. Pro isn't having no money or future, yet that's the reality you place in these so called pros.

But if you look at the changelogs here(http://www.ioquake.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=70) you might be able to figure something out, try one of the earlier releases.

Jsut be sure you don't play a version that does not have acore aspect you require.

Its not on there, but try 1.17 and see if it works there, you can move up then.

Or just do what i say and see if you can play like that, if movement is off, look into P_Move cvar or something along those lines.

Or just play without it!

the cpma client supports vq3(osp) standards, it was used as a replacement for osp in the latter days of competitive quake 3

I knew that, but I'm bad at CPMA which means I'm not able to configure it for the lan properly, (both client and server) unlike OSP where I've got some experience.

1. get quake3 1.32b source or ioquake3 source (probably avoid ioq3 cause it uses some retarded libs)

2. cvar.c, remove check for CVAR_CHEAT

3. compile

4. profit

The whole moving around the weapon thing didn't work very well in OSP or at all, if I remember correctly. I know I only started doing it in CPMA.

OSP is actually buggy and shit, I'm sure you will realise that once you play it a bit. (As I have.)
