Sad to still not see any of the top NA talent, but still good to have something going on in the scene. Hopefully when the season actually gets under way, we can see real prizes. Someone needs to get sponsors back into NA QL....

Can Lo handle Stywoo?

Still gonna watch it. Even though I'm not from NA I still think it's a good idea to support that scene. Such a potentially huge scene, there's gotta be more then a few contenders in there.

Also, I dunno why but QL.TV's own3d works better then lvl^ for me. lvl^ was buffering every 5 seconds for the last few days for me but all other own3d streams work fine. Tried different browsers, updating flash, etc. Any ideas?

edit: ps - Anima should go back to the Q3 tournament. Okay so it didn't work in Europe (fussy fuckers), but the American one was easily the best online tournament 2010

ur inet connection might be too slow, depends on the streamer at levelup i think, because they might use higher resolution for high quality than ql.tv i assume, and this means more bandwith is needed. The low quality stream from lvlup should work fine i guess.

Fact remains, HQ on QL.TV is about half the bandwidth of HQ on LVL^.

It's still Own3d.tv that is streaming, so it's the same servers.

I'd totally be up for some more AG cpm/vq3 action - that was easily one of the most epic events for TStv ever. I'm still happy that AG is at least putting things together for the somewhat underwhelming NA scene.

ping was the same, zero4 was just on form. And i mean it. He was hitting great rails and lg and his movement was very very fast. I'm thinking some of his moves on ztn were as fast as cypher.

Not really a whole lot of top talent players. I know ID of course and Rey but other than that, it's a big blur. Not even any old school Q3 player like chaoticz or czm was in this.

Why should we be surprised Z4 taking maps off NA players? He was in the first ever quakelive quakecon final.

I have to say, I'm really impressed with Stywoo's progress. I remember him being new in Q4 and playing occasional duels and FFA and in either gametype (at the time) I'd have a solid win against him, but I'm sure if I tried playing him now I'd just get demolished.
on another note, I should see how Quakelive is doing, haven't played a game on there in quite some time. Last time I tried I was getting some really weird glitches and just stuck with q4, q3 and q2 since. (q1 has no active servers in NA anymore, after Nobody's Alternative shut down.)

that's funny you mentioned Stywoo, because I was gonna post about him earlier this morn when I saw those brackets.

I remember talking to him a few weeks after QL's beta launch and watch him getting brutalized by third-tier NA players. He would just keep coming back for more and just wait his turn in the queue to play again.
He was a no-shittalk, earnest student of the game and would talk about which players use which weapon in different circumstances -- was dead-set on practicing duels over and over again until he could start making a dent in the NA top-tier.

I'm suprised he isn't better than he is actually. I'm one that used to brutalize him like 30-0. He took it and kept playing each time. Him and this guy called guts.. but haven't seen guts for a while, maybe he finally lost em :/

haha see what you did there; no guts, no glory...and when I said "third tier" NA players brutalizing Stywoo, I was definitely not talking about you.

QL.TV could be about a 100 times better if they had a decent visual config. I'm not talking about bitrate, I'm talking about the way levelup looks so much better when it removes smoke, uses a picmip with less detail, bright enemy skins, and it just makes quake spectating look a lot better.

It's not easy getting players for events in NA. I wish it could be like EU where an event is announced and within the first day there are already 16 teams or 32 duelers. In NA, the skill gap between players like ZeRo4, rapha, DaHanG, chance, and the others who go to NY every year against the advanced players like rey, tyryl, walter, etc., is huge.

The NA scene is so bad that I actually know most of the regular pub-stars...

ya I really don't see anyone from the NA scene making a push to become an international top-tier player. :(
