Yay for archives.

I epicfailed on soldering the 3.0 board so it is now unusable.

I went out and bought a WMO. Came home, took it apart, and lo and behold, the layout is different than what's pictured in the 3.0 to wmo conversion. Same optical sensor, but the buttons connect to the main board in a different path.

I have no idea how to discern what wires I should solder where.

Any suggestions on either figuring out where to wire what, or a guide perhaps I haven't found that uses the WMO as an example?

Shouldn't be much different than defusing a bomb, just pick a wire and go with it.

Only the buttons of the new board get rewired to the old buttons. For the usb cable you look at the connector to see if both mice had the same layout. If no, you have to change the order of the old cable you want to use so it fits the order of the new board.

If you fuck up the soldering you can get conducting glue and glue the connections on.

How do I determine the order of which to solder the old board to the new board?

Unfortunately, the wmo's board/layout is different.

Mouse buttons work like light switches, they simply electrically connect two wires by pressing.
You need to figure out where you can connect the old buttons (of the shell you want to use) to the new pcb (which you want to use in the old shell).
You desolder the buttons on the new pcb first, then connect the old buttons to those same places, easy as that.
