Spart1e would have to play really poorly to lose to czm, at least the czm that we saw in the NA quals. If he can play like he did in last weeks zotac he should be very dangerous in the world finals.

Well I'm a bit disappointed because I have never experienced the old and good q3 days. So I was happy for him to see him in hannover with a lot of practice. I think he had like 4 months to prepare and according to his account he hasn't played at all. So if this is true it is just a wastet spot and I would have rather seen zero4 (who could do some dmg) or two more slots for europeans :x

the analysis comes after the game, when you actually have something to analyze. the thing before is called warmup. when done properly, it can make an event a real success. don't bother trying to understand tho.

people don't seem to realize this, but having both, cooller and czm, together in a 2011 iem ql world championship is kind of a historic event. and the prospective of this being the starting point of more to come is just - genuinely lovely.

i just saw him raping in tdm against some decent players :o the thing that was lacking last time he dueled was his aiming.

Spartie is facing a disgusting group, yet again. However, with the practise he has been putting in lately I hope to see him stirring his group up a little.

If Spart1e gets out of groups. Then he got a real strong chance of winning this. Looking at his recent playing in Zotac. It looks like he's going to be in good form and I think he got a good chance of making a real upset here.

Okay, first a disclaimer: I'm making this statement based solely on the extract and have not yet read the whole article. I also haven't done an actual statistical analysis, though I suspect it would confirm my informal impression.

tl;dr, ignore the first paragraph.

The author seems to misread the evidence here. Of the usual top 4 players cited - Rapha, Cypher, Cooller and Av3k - Cypher seems by far the most likely to crash out below a podium finish. This is not the same thing as saying he hasn't got a good chance to win it all. Of course he does, probably a better chance than Av3k or Cooller, given the recent history. But the variance of his performance is higher than the others'.

I wouldn't say av3k is more stable than Cypher

Av3k hasn't participated in as many tourneys, but I think he's got top 3 a greater proportion of the time than Cypher. Looks like I'll have to do the analysis to convince you :)

I don't think recent Zotac wins can help Spart1e in any way. No hard feelings, he's a cool guy and all, but I don't think winning Zotac equals having a big chance to win IEM.
