no but on a more serious note, toxic was awesome to watch simply cuz of his aim, cypher is awesome to watch cause of his batshit insane agressive moves, rapha isnt awesome to watch but hes teh best quakelive player.
Quake 3 had lots of stars over the years. Cypher might have been the best at the end, but Quake 3 had already hit its peak by the time he was really dominant.
I don't fully agree; the strength of the lg due to the discovery of xerp led to more aggressive play, making it look more impressive than the osp era. Ofc the skill level did gradually increase, just not as much as it looks, imo :)
For Q3 it would be a 4-way tie IMO between fatal1ty, zero4, cooller and czm. They all had their reign where they were considered to be a notch above the rest. The lifespan of Q3 was so long that players didn't stayed committed to the game for the entire lifespan, some star players left the scene and a few new ones emerged.
You cant compare back then to now as hardware/gameplay/style has changed over the course. What you look at is how dominant they were back then compared to their current competition, as if they were playing today am sure they would likely have adapted along with it.
No1 can dispute that fatal1ty had a good run, same with zero4 and cooller
Well the current top level competition is pretty fierce wouldn't you say? You're right that comparing eras is opinion biased. If the question is, "Who has reached the highest level of dueling ability", then the answer is rapha. If the question is, "Who has shown the highest potential in dueling?" then the answer is a matter of opinion.
maybe but the only Q3 configs I've seen of his were of derquaker and they had QWES and plus if he did use lexers controls his weapon binds would most likely be very different, but I'm not one to say for sure as I've completely changed my control set over 6 or 7 times....
