I just bought a Deathadder as the Abyssus jittering was getting to me. The shape is great, buttons are great, the sensor is working fine (possibly better than anything I've used so it feels weird) However, it's so frikking heavy!
It's even a lot more heavy than my ms3.0! Is there an extra weight inside it? Where is the weight coming from? Is there anything I can remove, or must I just get used to it?
My aim's ok, but I'm not as quick as I was with my abyssus.
I was actually playing, and I couldn't figure out why in some moments it felt like there was extra accel, or that the sens was too fast, or that the sens was too slow, but I just realised it was because the mouse feet are extremely smooth, and the mouse is heavy, therefore small movements feel faster (due to mouse feet) and large movements feel slower (due to weight).
At least with the 1800dpi DA I have, it would probably be the easiest of any sensor circuitry to put into another shell.
The sensor PCB is very small, maybe a little bigger than a WMO PCB, and the mouse1 and mouse2 buttons are also on a separate daughter board, making them much easier to place nearer the new shells original microswitch placements. Mouse4 and mouse5 are also on this daughter board, so admittedly they would be more awkward to implement.
Infact, if the abbysus uses a separate daughter board (probably not), then it would most likely use the same connector and wiring standard, as that part would probably come straight from their parts bin catalogue. I presume it will only have one pcb as its a relatively low mouse (only reason for the second board in the DA was due to the height of the shell and to have small levers to activate the microswitches for a nice feel + have main pcb in ideal position for sensor).
Here is a webpage with some good picks of the internals:
It does look possible to put it in the abyssus shell, but after testing them both, it appears the problem is the weight, not the shell. How much more weight do you think you can remove from it? You said you took it down to 101g?
Mine weights now ~101g ye, but i have an old rev. of the DA 3G which was ligher than the later ones.
And i think it doesn't get any lighter, if u dont wanna drill holes in it.
My solution would be, to order other abyssuses until u find one that doesn't jitter.
There are out there, go find them. :D
man abyssus is great just use it at 450 dpi 125hz and use HIDUSBF to get it to 500 or 250hz..and use it with goliathus alpha speed..problem solved.:) higher the dpi in pooling worse the performance.
It's ok on a speed, but it still jittered enough so that you couldn't draw in photoshop. I actually found the allsop mouse pad to be better. Still the deathadder sensor is flawless, and I'm beginning to get used to it. I have a feeling in a week the weight won't bother me. I did play with a ms3.0 for like 8 years or something.
