Yep. Fatal1ty took down an almost unbeatable vo0 in 4 straight maps. How many people can claim to do that?
Also, at WSVG finals, a dominant toxjq was pushed to the wire by fatal1ty who actually won 3 maps to toxjq's 2 in the final.

After fatal1ty got beat by toxjq when fat probably considered himself to be in the best shape he could be in Q4, as well as a good word in from fox, and toxjq's tournament record, and there was no sign of WSVG collapsing at that point etc.

Why not have the proven best player in your ranks when he just beat you at your best? The mantra of the fplayers was to support dedicated professional gamers, and toxjq certainly was that. Could have enabled him to train against him etc.

Why would fatal1ty put his whole "legacy" at risk with one stupid move like that? If uncovered it would negate all his previous achievements, and his businesses would hugely suffer, and probably go bust as a result; what hardware companies would want to associate themselves with a now infamous cheat if this were the case? The risk/reward is beyond nonsensical....

Why would Fatal1ty, who in PK defeated Vo0, the equivalent dominant player of his game, think he could not do a similar feat to toxjq in Q4? Came mighty close too.

Fatal1ty pretty much monopolized a lot of sponsorship money that could have gone to funding the lives and careers of much more marketable players over the years like Cooller, Gitzzz and Stermy because he just had to whore himself in just about any game he played because it was pretty much the only way he knew how to get by. There's no doubt in my mind that, if Creative and Zalman hadn't discovered Fat when they did, they surely would have looked into other big names -- perhaps even czm, z4 and socrates.

Thats quite an interpretation. The reality of it is that Fatal1ty saved up all of his winnings and used the money to trademark his name while hiring a Marketing Manager (Mark Walden) to represent his company to various corporations for product branding; Creative, Zalmen, Ati, Msi, etc. He took a major risk with his money and it paid off. Oh and btw, he did invest in other "marketable" players, remember the FPO? - Fox, Stermy, Toxic, I guess you just happen to forget about that.

Bottom line is that Fatal1ty worked his ass off and took big risks to get where he is today.

Like the big risk of playing in a difficult game like Q3, despite the fierce competition? Oh wait... no... he quit to put his support behind Doom 3 to play against uberpros like Daler. After no longer being competitive in Doom 3 (didn't take long), did he take the risk on Q3 again? No, he went to PK to play against 17 average players who probably practiced about 1/100 as much as he did. So... PK died, and he waits until all the players are bored of Q4, switches to that for ONE tournament, and loses against someone with no tournament wins in Q3.

At that point, he goes inactive for a while, only to turn down a direct challenge (I believe it was ESWC?) by Zero4, when he returned. He threw his support behind the CGS (which didn't support Quake), but not even to actually play games - they actually thought it would be a good idea to have him CAST games.

Where did he work his ass off? Where did he take big risks? I see him jumping on advertising opportunities, getting into games early and getting out before the real competition arrives, and I see him throwing his support behind anything with a (c) next to the name. He talks about how Q3 is his favorite game so much, but there has been at least 1 Q3/QL tournament every year since he quit. There is no excuse for not attending, unless you look at the obvious lack of real skill.

As for what he's done for gaming, every game he has played has died, as well as almost every company that he's supported. He's like slasher, except worse as a caster.

People are mad cause fatal1ty is the western gamer that made himself into a brand and made smart business decisions. I don't know why people feel he owes the gaming community, that is comparable to everyone owing the schools and universities for taking an education there. IMO fatal1ty deserves a lot of credit for what he has accomplished in gaming and business.

There's no success in esports (outside of Korea). People are just here 'cause they like it. Maybe that will change once we get some better strategists. As much as I like id software, they don't seem to have any real strategy for building a multiplayer community. It's just, 'here's the game, here are the necessary components, hope you like it'.
