not sure what you mean. demo wasn't supposed to showcase "top level" FFA competition; was just showing how I time and aim in FFA. I have lots of demos vs better opponents.

Ah ok, it just wasn't very interesting because I think most people here already knows that can be done against noobs. It would be a lot better demonstration, and way more fun to watch, to see it in an intense FFA game with decent players.

I don't really time that much in ffa as I play it fairly casually, but would be interesting to see.

1. accept reality - could be the first step to recovery but will most likely lead to depression
2. create a new reality, one where he's successful and unique - this is where really weird shit starts happening like:

- I work at mcdonalds(2) but I registered 3 companies with my name, therefore I run 3 businesses - I'm successful(100)
- I am terrible at videogames(2) but I almost beat a famos player in a practice match once - I'm a good player(100)

What is this "make it" delusion that you have about gaming? If you're talking about the gaming industry (game design/art/programming/etc), the pay is sub-par. If you're talking about playing games professionally, the only game you could even remotely point to would be Starcraft. Hell, YOU make more money at McDonald's than 99% of non-Starcraft professional gamers. You'll be making even more than the other 1% when you reach manager in 5 years.

SF as an arcade game and it's definitely much less complex than quake, but that's not even the point here. it's time invested. yeah, if you invest 15 years in an *arcade* game, you should be able to beat someone better once in awhile. it is miles above tekken and the rest, by far, but it's still an arcade beat em up.

Which actually toned his character down as its pretty broken in the version I played him at, so based on that, it works in my favour even more.

Its like arguing between quake 3 and quakelive. Except the changes in the Xbox made his player worse, so it goes in my favour even more. I hardly played it either, I played it some in 90's and picked it up again for fun in prep for SF4. So nowehre near 15 years.

He will mention once again that the tournament was *streamed*, as all the gdata/zotac cups were, so a ton of people from irc actually saw the match on that very day, cause it wasn't a private practice match. (Jamie makes himself look stupid here.)

2. Tourist spots an argument between Lethe and a proven pathological liar (Jamerio), continues to read something he doesn't actually believe, and requests a demo from Lethe to back up that claim.

3. Lethe doesn't want to be associated with proven liars (Jamerio) and agrees to email the replay to Tourist cause he finds it pathetic to throw around stories without an actual proof to back it up like some people do (Jamerio).

4. Jamerio is so pissed with the situation he's forced to make a paranoid claim that Lethe was actually waiting for months and months for an opportunity to upload the replay of a match (that a lot of people have already seen and know the outcome, as mentioned before) to ESR, while actually thinking that by that pathetic move he managed to switch the story from him being unable to back up anything he says to something else. Alas, he failed, and got ridiculed. People are still waiting for his proofs of whatever, and they aren't getting any of those, though, and it's well known why.

5. Instead of being happy people have actually let that story fade, he's actually being stupid enough to bring it back and step into a hurricane of crap.

versus Tony: I think your LG's better and rail...RL is just oranges to apples, in the sense that he uses them differently than you. I think proficiency at dueling pushes your total skill set ahead.

versus visje/bik: Guy's got one helluva tracking LG, moves smooth and assuredly on maps, e.g., backing up and making defensive frags while keeping footing. Tough call, but different continent. Point about weak ffa enemies goes both ways, but more visje's direction. Still too close to call.

From what i've seen, Tony's rg is pretty sick. He hit some ridiculous shots on dm11 and dm12, didn't have a chance to use it on dm6. I'd say he's better than tyryl with rg on the merit of his close range aiming.

He also has some really, really good mg tracking, which is kinda weird, since his lg is way worse (not bad by all means, just kinda what you'd expect from a good player, nothing more).

What makes Tony good at ffa is his overall awareness - he seems to know where to go, at what moment in time, where the weak enemies will gather, when to push and when to fuck off, what are the danger zones and safe paths. This was pretty clear on dm6 where he edged his famous victory, and got him quite a few frags on the other maps, despite being on a lower skill level than most other participants.

I think long ago Tony made the decision to approach FFA as a legimitate mod and think beyond the seemingly random chaotic mess it often presents. Not sure tyryl or visje have done this(tyryl seems to pursue dueling much more seriously).

Yup, seems that way, and honestly, there is nothing wrong with that. FFA is an old gametype with lots of tradition, in the early qw/q1 days it was the most played mode, you could see all sorts high tier players duking it out and having fun.

Seems that these days, if a gametype doesn't have lan tourneys with prize pools, it must be a joke. Meh.

Well, whatever. One other thing i wanted to comment about is Tony's rl. The way he aims reminds me strongly of qw/q2 players, actually, the way he makes sharp wrist movements to adjust his aim. Very reminiscent of players like Griffin and Vo0. I have to say i find that incredibly sexy, maybe even a bit nostalgic, hardly any players aim like that these days. And from what i know, Tony used to be a q2 player, so i guess it makes sense for him to aim that way.

Anyway, between Tony, tyryl and Visje, it would be hard to say who's the best. tyryl and Visje seem to have ever so slightly more solid aim and movement overall, whereas Tony has superb map awareness. Pretty sure if they played several FFA games with each other, they'd all take a few maps each.

Where is the epic Tony DM6 ffa match vod with 2gd and Joe casting? I only found demos and vods (without casting). :(((
