with you on your response to stunt.us....but I think naymlis was simply replying in kind to your level of specificity, viz., your rhetorical question "Are you by any chance from America?
"Technically" aside for a minute, I'm about 99.99% certain you were talking about the U.S. in your question. More to the obvious ESR style/point, you didn't pick up on that familiar flavor of sarcasm in naymlis's reply? even in saying America's a country??
"since America is the only country with stupid people I think you might be right! "
Calling America a country wasn't at all part of sarcasm and that's the only thing that I referred to so I didn't get trolled. He said that because he'd assumed I meant U.S which may or may not be true. To assume so and commit a mistake resulting from that faulty assumption was stupid of him.
Feel free to dwell on that issue and look for more trolling traps though.
be honest though for just a sec...you meant the U.S. right? I'm not talking about symbolic logic here; I'm talking about 'tone' and common usage[see wiki's first entry for "America"] -- typically when insults(ad hominems) get hurled at "America" one IS NOT referring to Canada or Mexico or any South American country. That's just a given dude.
Remember your word "technically"?? Well you weren't being too technical when you asked him if he is from America, were you? Technically he should of asked you which country do you mean...but again since we're not cyborgs, he really didn't have to and assumed correctly. You just didn't like that he "guessed"[sic] right. You also probably believe that Naymlis did not know, up until tonight's edifying moment on ESR, that "America" could also refer to either of the two continents, in addition to colloquially meaning U.S.A.
p.s. are you a native speaker of English? just wondering because this mini-thread raised some finer points of usage that are very subtle: Colloquial vs. academic vs. slang vs. jargon english usage.
I think you're clever enough to realize what purpose nitpicking serves (especially in pointless arguments on the internet ;D).
I'm not a native speaker.
What are we even discussing here? You might find it hard to agree on that but judging by what a friend of mine was taught in high-school in America there is no wonder that most Americans are uneducated which frequently makes them look stupid.
oh he lost in his first groupgame against dandaking (wo was supposed to be the worst player in that group) and stood with his back to the wall, so every single groupgame from then on counted for him. and for that point, he pretty much won, when it counted.
Spart1e seems to play better when he doesn't care. He lost his first game and the pressure was off. He could just have fun and play I guess... With that he caused upsets, then the pressure came back on and he failed again :[
Well your comment was putting down online play, yet as we've already established, with higher pings, euro players > US players at CTF and Spart1e beat Rapha... On LAN... So... Derp?
edit: hey what'cha know, the AG CTF cup is on tonight with some Euro's playing. Tune in and lol if you feel :]
