You didn't have to be around in the early Q3 days to find the interview interesting. I started playing Quake in 2006 I think, and I find all of this stuff really interesting. In a way, I feel like I got screwed by not being around for the glory days of quake.

I'm very sorry (for you) that you respond to criticism this way, it only shows your bad mindset and it really reflects well upon why quake is as insignificant as it is. When even the self-proclaimed saviours of quake still are reminiscing about the past and pretending that the game can live forever on 3 good years ~ 10 years ago.

I'm not pretending (unlike others) that I have done anything to promote quake. But I can still facepalm when I see "big" professional organisations giving quake a shot and totally failing at almost everything. Why even bother to arrange a potential epic quake showdown, when they fail at producing a somewhat enjoyable and watchable production. Most online amateur SC2 productions are better put together then the "professional" ql productions. Most ql tournaments has only been saved by some somewhat good individual casting performances.
Look at GSL, hey even look at a random sports channel, the production setup is there for the grabbing, and its very few resources that are needed to catch up.

Well this might have become a bit sidetracked.
But every time I see another interview / article / forum post about; CPL, Babbage's (or wtf it is), OSP, oldmaps, GTV, Eurocup III, fatality, x-oldschoolplayer that have moved on decades ago. I'm struck by the above thoughts and realise that quake hasn't moved forward in ~10 years, and that the majority thinks its just swell and they actually like dwelling in the past......facepalm.....

Why are you whining? The interview was very interesting for someone who actually remembered some of what he was talking about. Just because you don't find it interesting doesn't mean that you have to spout off random bullshit whining about the quality of a very good interview.

i guess what he's trying to say is that he isn't (wasn't) a "brainy" player but rather one who relied on his incredible aim and reaction time a lot - in contrast to some of the myths surrounding him in recent years.

doesn't rely too much on plan making, disgusing, sudden attack, sneaking, etc.

I wouldn't agree with his characterization of prozac as a tdm player at all, (although he did admit that he hadn't really watched him play)

prozac was a very sneaky player, who played a very careful and calculated style, trying to die as little as possible (more like stelam). What he describes is a flashy player like toxic or mikes, who just ran around like a headless chicken aimbotting the hell out of everything.

im not so much familar with czm as player, as i started to show intrest in quake like 2 years ago...
