yeah ztn is better than dm13, but not the best choice from my perspective.
But in general its OK to have +back maps in the pool aswell. The rest of the maps can be played very agressivly. I love to see some high class toxicity! GO BOYS!

The only reason I complain is because I don't consider Hektik the best map, yet an established map like ZTN is out.

Aerowalk is special, everyone even brainers can own on it, due to 'map aim' just knowing where to spam and prediction, which is great.

Furious Heights is still nice to spec, could go for a while until we get a new map to change to.

Looking for battleforged to take over for lost world and hopefully id let's established map makers (who create maps for free) to have their maps tested in focus group. We should have TONS of maps by now, ppl do make maps for free, ffs.

It is of course my opinion as you said so take it how you wish.

The map is far too easy to control and the addition of rocket launcher (where plasma used to be) removes any kind of positional advantage one could have at the middle of the map (unless of course your enemy is at the ga/tele).

A lot of positional advantages are gone. RA is extremely open to rails (would be fine if the RA was moved back to the corner instead of the center of the bridge imo) and with the new physics traveling from YA to the RA is extremely easy (it was before but now you virtually cannot fail the jump).

The only time the person in control needs to leave that RL area is for mega (which is not that dangerous to get if you've got control) and if they have to get the rail then they can just take the teleporter back to the RA or just strafe jump from the 50h...in other words, getting back to the RA is way too easy now. Before a person out of control could get to RA and have the safety of knowing that it would take some time for the enemy to get back to the RA.

The teleporter from GA to RA is one of the biggest issues IMO. It removes any positional advantage a down player would have if they were at that RL and say the enemy was on the rail side of the map...and again the issue of being able to get to RA quickly.

Item balance on the map is quite off now too. On the GA side of the map there is only 40points worth of armor (the GA and 3 shards) and not to mention that the GA is in such a vulnerable spot (it is in a corner with no exit except the tele or to go forward and if the enemy is properly positioned at the high RL you're fucked unless they miss their shots). Because there is only one YA that is where 80% of the fights occur.

Uh I guess that is enough for now...

agree a 100%. the only real issue on it was the sound. dunno why they felt the need to switch the items around and move the ra etc. as much as i like maps that support aggressive styles, not every map needs to be an aero/hektik style. if we're going to move to a map pool with new maps there needs to be some maps in there to replace say dm13 or ztn at some point. (this isnt to say i think bf is ready for that tho).

Okay, first off I think the new version allows for people to be more aggressive at red, I think you can agree. With the qcon version, if stacks were relatively even and your opponent was at red, you have very little you could do. Yes, you could do damage, but getting red is pretty much out of the question.

With the new version, you have a better chance contesting for red.

Now, I do like the qcon version better, but only because of personal reasons, I think it fits my style better. I'm not selfish, so I'm supporting the new one.

The teleporter change is questionable, it seems alright, but I haven't played a ton of games on the new one.

Basically, either version should be in the pool. The DH pool is good, with the exception of aerowalk. I think if we replaced aerowalk with ZTN, we would have a 100% solid NEW map pool. All new maps. I think aerowalk and hektik are too similar, so one or the other.

Anyway, kudos for liking the Quakecon version :D

Finally someone who agrees with me on this. Old BF was much more stressy. In the new one red is just too easily accessible and being in control is so much easier.

The map was changed because lots of people found it boring to spectate it, which is why it was changed so more aggressive play could be allowed.

But, the map was already written off by everyone before the change, so yeah.

I hope it comes back though.

The map died BECAUSE of the update not before it. It was fun to play and fun to spectate aswell. Not every map needs to be hektik/aero.

I agree, I prefer to have some maps like ZTN/BF, "brain" maps if you will.

T7 is about two huge random rooms which provides random fights and some corridors here and there. Just a personal opinion, I hate it.

I really hope they decide to drop the groupstage in the dueltournament in favor of a double elimination bracket from the beginning on and then have 32 players instead of 16.
The tdm tournament is going to bring in loads of great players to play who could also do well in the duel tournament. But 16 slots would mean that many of them wouldnt be able to play.

Double elim sucks I don't like it. Furthermore I don't think that you'll see noctis and some other players from your list competing in the tournament.
16 top players are ok because it offers great and close group stage games. But a byoc tournament would be really nice. I would consider to go though I prolly won't win that much matches but I would be able to see dreamhack and the pros.

Something along the lines of 'there is a possibility that QL won't make to the next season of IEM'. Tosspot asked stermy if he's angry at Carmac that he's (ESL) considering dropping QL this year, so something is in the air for sure.

Lost world with new update is great and like rapha said the games on IEM were very defensive cause they couldn't hear great, therefore they couldn't calculate their risks as accurately, on UGC they can hear much better and lost worlds is really nice to watch from a tactical standpoint.

Okay, april fools is over. Real pool plz.

This map pool isn't amazing and it isn't terrible. It's including 3 of the same maps that have been in map pools ever since Quake tournaments started, and 1 which has been since Quake Live started.

Aerowalk, Hektik, and Toxicity are all too similar in gameplay in a general sense of size, item/weapon placement, and positioning. All of them can be easily scaled due to physics and teleporters, which makes for fast gameplay and fast reactions. ZTN was only made boring because of the types of styles players acquired from Quake Live, mainly +back and rocketing (which seems to work, but is highly criticized). From a player standpoint, ZTN is a great map that tests all the fundamentals of a dueler, and "separates the boys from men". Control, positioning, timing, predicting, routing, trapping, and so many other elements are crucial to this map.

So, as a spectator I would like to see great games on fast maps, but without a map pool that varies in playability I am somewhat disappointed.

hekti - often random spawn map, aim heavy, fast.
aero - easy spawn control, aim heavy, fast.
lostw - slow, tactical.
fh - tactical, but aim heavy, fast/mid.
tox - often random spawn map, heavy aim, fast.

player a removes lostw and you have 4 aim maps left.
for spectators and for heavy aimers, this map pool realy good.
realy bad desidion by DH admins to keep HEKTIK. Add battle foreged insteed... map pool isn't balanced now at all.

why 90% ppl don't wanna see killsen vs strenx finals (no offence guys), but wanna see rapha vs cooller etc? QuakeLive (Q3) is balanced between aim and tactics.
