I wouldn't play there. The admins ban you if you leave a game when you have to put a fire out in your house.

all mods are shit and running on the shit bugfest of the SDK that killed the game, and you have`nt tried http://www.moddb.com/mods/q43a which is banned and filter on q4master and 60% + all SDK recode and new features n shit, cos id are shit without carmack and become codemasters and forgotten with shit liike operation flashpoint
quake4 wasn't written by id it was written by Raven Software (under some supervision of id).
Later it got heavily altered by id though (when they realized it was shit).
and have`nt got the unofficial patch for SP and MP for windows and linux that will start listenservers and dedicated server with a all in 1 pack and build
do what, i couldnt give a fucking shit about any of you, or id, or the whole nerdy world of making mods and teams and beta testers
q4 is dead, no1 plays it, i can put out a patch whenever i want, if you download it and play n try it, then you know its the best q4 mod and better then QL, with a renderer that does`n need no changes for atleast 8 more years
who needs testing, the unmodded quake 4 is full of random crashes, game glitches so on and so on, which is why it is dead, as far as your tournies go, the public server frag fests never happened because the game is pure shit ingeneral and doesnt have full customizable MP player models, voice taunts, water or anything else good
Q43A fixes all the random crashes, all teh glitches and adds all the missing features
find out, check your windows crash logs, they are all in the sdk, if you have extracted files in the q4base or mod folder and run a pure server, then the client engine will crash when a client connects, but all the random crashes when playing the game are fixed
there no fail safes in alot of functions, if a function is called and a entity is given to it then the game will crash, because iddict class has no fail safes either, and a 1000 other small things that make the random crashes
all other mods are shit, have none of teh features that are in Q43A, because no1 but me can code and have the brain that can debug on the fly multiple classes without compiling
no other mod fixes all the glitches and crashes
no other mod has all new "netcode" running only the code needed server or client side for each and every entity spawned, and wont just be overwritten by a snapshot sent from server, increasing performance a little and using lower cpu
no other mod cant do anything in Q43A, becuase the SDK doesnt have a single line of code todo with any of the new feature that are in Q43A
no other mod can have more then 16 players on a server, Q43A can have 128
no other mod is worth anything
q3 mods came with it all, q4 suck asses think some bumpmapping on textures changes the universe and the engine is all cosmic, when its all exactly the same with a new renderer
hate this game, wasted too much time into it ...
the game itself wasn't bad, but the game was bugged as hell,
my system crashed arbritrarily ... and I really tried hard to play that game, because I wanted to make a comeback at quake at that time ... but really at some point after I reinstalled windows several times in different versions and even exchanged the hardware just to get the game running smoothly and the errors still persisted, I was just fed up with this shit ... since then I didn't play quake anymore, I only tested QL a bit (but I don't think I accumulated more than 90 minutes of playtime in QL) ... having played quake a lot in the past, the quakeexperience is not so new to me, and playing QL is not giving me the same joy that Quake gave me when I played it the first time, it's just not fresh anymore, besides I was at a very high level, don't want to start out as a newb now ;-) ... but being a newb is not the mainreason, just takes too much energy and time to get to a good level again, and anyway I have been there already, don't really need to experience it another time ... now there are other things I want to reach ... still I learned some 3D Mapping in Q4, that was the only good thing about it, because later on I profited from it when I made a model of a spacestation in Blender ... end of liferant ;-)
try Q43A, it wont crash, it has no existing bugs that was retail packed, it makes q4 a whole new game, if it does crash and has some sdk lines in the crashlog, i fix it in a few mins
sry, it's 2 l8 m8. If I will ever play competitively again (that is for me all that matters in online gaming, e.g. "mess with the best or die like the rest"), it can only be QL or some other *popular* quake-like game. But right now I have no time to play anything competitively, and tbh. chances are rather slim I ever will play competetively an online game again, even when I might have enough time for it. There are certain timegaps in life where things happen ... you also don't play with LEGO anymore, even though you could be creative there, too, and build amazing things, etc. ...
Q43A is about competitive play, its has duel if you want duel, its more about kicking ass on alcoholic pub servers
all the clean code etc etc etc etc etc etc, and playing simple duel, with all projectile.cpp recoding recoding, makes gameplay all good and glitch free.
the SDK code is able to have upto 128 players, you all can find out yourself if the engine stops at 16 still, the SDK will stop at 128 players
and you can have your server running on your own custom damage set with si_tournamentmode enabled, with new ways of starting games with warmup, timed warmup, timed readyup, normal ready up,
I think all of the Quake games are feeling the effects of a fairly segmented community at the moment. With the exception of QL, I feel that each of the Quake games have a unique style and feel to them that keep segmenting out more and more players. Quake 4 was/is no different. While there are still several dozen players and a couple clans here in the US (I'm ignorant to the scene in EU) that populate a couple servers on any given night, YES, the Quake 4 competitive community is dormant. Now, why did I use the term dormant rather than dead; simply put, because it ISN'T dead. The players are still around (though doing other things), the drive is still there to compete but the environment is not conducive to growth. Now without going into a tirade what what Quake 4 was, I simply want to invite everyone to see the potential of what Quake 4 can be when we release GTR in the coming weeks.
After several setbacks in the team and vacations from working on the mod, sk4ut and zhakal have built GTR into a really impressive work. And though we've kept pushing back the release date in the past, the game is at such a point where all the team members feel that it is ready for the world. Why release something half-assed *cough* Raven*? I invite all of you to give it a try when it's released; I think everyone will be fairly surprised. And if anything, don't install it, and just post on the ESR Q4 forums about how much better it is than Q43A/Militia, then sit back and read the millions of raged posts p0rt will make.

SP game pause uses 2 parts g_stoptime, and removes the cvar
and it goes on, its all my own code and none of it exists in the SDK, not 1 line of any of it
if you haven't been following, GTR is quickly sneaking up on Duke Nukem Forever status as far as "it's actually going to come out" goes. If you look through the forums, you'll see a few "GTR coming soon" as far back as WSVG times ('07)

Things are going well in the GTR camp. Just asking; are there any specific additions/changes/features you guys would like to see? We've tried to keep the wiki pretty accurate on what will be included, but just thought I'd ask.

i remember speaking to zhakal years ago about when this was being released , how far along is it because if i was you i wouldn't hold out on it ;D else by the time your do release it the game will be truly dead and all your hard work / time would have been wasted.
For the love of the game and the community we had when quake4 was on hes last days. I never saw this post so i didnt had the chance to tell you as a ex moderator what happend and who is diabz.
First off all if u dont know diabz. This guy is a rage quitter second class from the UK. If he cant win he will come up with some excuses just to leave the "pickup" with an excuse so he dont get banned for a day for not playing the game and lie against the moderators.
This time he told us there was a fire outside and he needed to check it out. This was a lie because in game i remember he was losing to us and he didnt feel like hes team mates where helping him out. So he came up with an excuse as you people read. Thats why i asked "whats wrong with u diabz" Because i dont believe this guy anymore after 2 years of trollin the community and making people think different about others. He actually manipulated allot of people back in those days.
So this was my side of the story. To bad quake4 died. i stayed untill the last 10 people where in the channel. Its a shame we all left it. RIP quake4 2011
