Can't tell you anything about the DVI-issue, but if you are planing to play QL on your laptop you should not have any problems running it in native resolution (if you use high-vis config) on your monitor as QL basically is a 11-12 year old game it should run smoothly even on a GeForce 6600GT.

you must use the dvi, maybe a dvi > vga will work but i don't know.. just remember it's a dual link dvi cable when you search.

I bought acer notebook and was searching for 2233rz, but my notebook have HDMI and VGA ports.. As one guy told me, I will never have 120hz with my notebook + 2233rz. So I am a bit disapointed..

ive played on a 2233rz monitor on my laptop before i bought a new pc.

it will do 60 hz, no more...after a while you'll get used to it tho

get a dockingstation with dual dvi if available for your laptop

can't tell you out of experience, but theoretically expresscard has a max thoughput of 2.5 gbit/s while dual dvi has 9.9 gbit/s. i have neither seen usb nor expresscard docking in action, but i suspect it being not very satisfying.

some notebooks have a dockingport at the bottom or the backside. you can connect all your home periphery devices to the dockingstation and just put your laptop on it.

It wont work, 3d tv and the 120 hz monitors like 2233rz doesn't use the same technology

Got a cheap used 2233RZ to go with my poor laptop display just to realize the refresh rate is limited to 75hz - forget getting anything past 77hz out of the hdmi-port with such an old _mobile_ graphics card. I'm not sure whether the newer ones even support 120hz through hdmi - make sure they have hdmi 1.4 atleast.

No wonder you're not getting 120 Hz. HDMI does not have the bandwidth needed to. Only dvi supports 120 Hz. Also, the displays refresh rate is not capped depending on the graphic cards performance.

People have got it working for a while with 120hz through hdmi with newer nvidia graphics cards, but it's not stable. The bandwith is calculated like this:

resX * resY * 24 (colorbits) * refreshrate / 1000^3 = bandwidth in gbits/s

(thats for 32bit colors, can't remember exactly why 24 is used, had to to something with the processing @ gpu)

Regardless, I'm not getting that 120Hz out from my HDMI-port with a 9600m GT. No idea whether it is possible to get it working properly (as I said, some have got it working at true 100hz and 120hz for a while, but the display whines about the mode after a minute or two).

32 bit colour is 8 bits of red, green, blue, and alpha. The alpha channel is only there for processing (eg transparency) and not actually displayed on screen, hence the monitor only needs the 24 bits of RGB data.

I connected my TV to notebook with VGA cable. I can set it 100 hz easy.
