The people don't hate Quake, they just have no confidence in the dev-team. If you invest yourself in a game, you'd like to know the investment will prove fruitful. With all the critical-errors made by the QL team (which seem to never end), and the concurrent failure to implement anything successful, it's perfectly understandable why people would be 'miserable'.

Maybe that's part of the problem... id doesn't understand that we're investors. They think of us as customers, or possibly worse.

It's one of the things that make me happy. It's not like I would want anything else in life but am stuck playing vidia games. I do this on my own will because I enjoy it.

Also, the percentage of morons in quake community is surprisingly low, when juxtaposed to other games or other free-time activities. What's even better, the percentage of cheeky and smart people that are always ready to make amusing, ironic comments is obviously the highest. Thus it's a sheer pleasure to spend here a quarter or so everyday.

Seriously thought, just the skill needed to play QL to actually win compared to a Console FPS.
Drives me mad when someone (When I say someone, I mean every console player on earth) say their amazing at CoD because they got a OK kill in a public game on 300 ping against some people who were just messing about.

i dont play much anymore but i always loved quake and there are some interesting/amusing threads every now and then + great info about tourneys (DH/IEM etc.)
