It's a big difference. It's hard to say how much of an advantage it gives you in terms of accuracy improvement because over time you adjust to your 60hz as good as possible. Still usually people report their accuracy goes up by about 5%.

But the most important thing is that it is significantly more enjoyable to play with 120hz. The game is A LOT smoother and you will just feel more comfortable overall when playing.

Not on TFTs 60Hz and 120Hz on TFT is the same from eye-pain perspective, on 120Hz CRT you definitely could play longer than with 60Hz on CRT but in TFT world there is no difference really.

well ofc tfts don't flicker on low frequencies but since 120hz is way smoother than 60hz your eyes will still feel much better

not only for lg but for rg as well. Invest in a high-end crt and you will feel the difference immediately.

I was hitting 25-30 (before hitbox) with a tft, got a crt and it went up to 40's (still before hitbox), after hitbox i got an offer so i sold the crt, and on tft again i get around 35-40. I feel that playing with a crt really showed me how to aim correctly, because you can essentially see twice as much going on. It really helped out.

It makes a large amount of difference because it'sr easier to lock on basically due to higher refreshing of the screen and since it's 125fps, 120hz makes the game a whole lot smoother.

i played ET with 100 refresh and FPS capped to 100 to optimalize smoothness... Then switched to LCD with max 75hz... nothing changed tbh... i assume it would be same with quake, as its same engine

example, in cs I can play with 60/75 hz very confortable (and I don't feel ~8ms ). In Quake, it's 2 time worse. I am playing with notebook now for ~2 months, my eyes adapted to 60hz and 8ms (or 16ms i dont know), but my aim is now 20-25 lg and 20-25 rail.
My notebook is 15,6', widescreen, maybe on 19' 4:3 lcd with 2ms and 75hz, It would be better I am sure.

It makes some difference to accuracy, but the most significant difference is in the smoothness of the game. A friend of mine who was over, who isn't a gamer, could tell the difference between my 60hz and 120hz monitor just by moving the mousecursor on windows desktop. Once you get used to playing on 120hz then 60hz makes it feel like there something is wrong with the game

60 vs 120? I could tell the difference between 120 and 160 on a CRT.

Recently I switched from 1024x768 100hz to 800x600 120hz (eizo crt 17) just to check how it feels and since then I've been pleasantly surprised with my lg aim, it went really high (as for my standards) and at times I'm hitting some ridiculous %, what never really happened to me before :]

Buy it second hand, not many crts are still in production. You can get a good one for 40$, just check the refresh rate at the resolution you're wanting to use.

It's a huge difference. I've recently been house sitting so I only have had my lcd. Rail doesn't really suffer, but lg is just horrible on an lcd.

I can't remember which tournament it was - but I do remember fox.. hitting about 10% lg when a lcd was used. But not all lcd's are the same.

It's just a matter of getting used to it really. I used to play on 120hz CRT @ 800x600. After getting used to a 60hz LCD with 2ms response time I was at relatively the same accuracies. I'd say within normal margin of error if you were to directly compare it scientifically over time ~ +/- 5%.

Changing is the hardest par... to be concrete on this: hello mr 25% shaft, good bye good ol constatn 37-43%... for about 2 months atleast (prolly depends on how much you play) If you change, if you've always did a tft with small delay, you'll just have a slightly different tactic from the start, some +backish

The biggest factor is what you re used to, if you change from a cool crt to a 5 ms latency you will most likely pop your veins in the first month if you re even remotly friends with your shaft. As someone pointed it out it also affects your rockets aswell, simply becouse of how you see your opponent doing his dodging.

had a crt for gaming for like 4-5 years 120 hz on almost every resolution, than got myself a tft with 2 ms latency, it was a change from 19" to 24" but yet I was very sorry for doin this for a couple months, but gaming wasn't so hard on my eyes anymore so it was worth it (crt makin your eyes look like u did 5-10 gramms of skunkyfunky).

The difference is humungus, it kicks in especially when the opponent is trying to dodge your shaft and it seems like he is doing a ppt presentation to you, or how fast both of you start to shaft each other it only means a couple of ms, but u will have a hard time. i found that using 60/75 hz isn't the end of the world...

never played quake on anything with more then 60hz, the response time is quite good though and there is no input lag (as far as i heard, is there a quality source for input lag on monitors?)
but a 120hz tft is definitely on my wishlist

prad.de is the only site with a reliable test protocol afaik. Most of the other ones use some stupid flash timer.

It helps having 120hz but it won't make you a god with it. LG is all movement based more so than just raw aim.

I'm not sure my acc really increased by overclocking my LCD (no, it's not skipping frames) to 76hz but it sure feels much better than 60 already.
So 120hz... well that must be so comfortable I can't imagine it not being an advantage (makes you more confident etc)

Yes, win7 is that retarded. You can still force unsupported refresh rates (at least with nvidia cards, but I'm sure there's a way to it with ati as well), and I can't imagine why you wouldn't do that. 85hz may be better than 60hz, but 120hz makes a world of difference in terms of smoothness

1. Download latest drivers
2. Set a custom resolution for your ingame resolution (in the drivers) at 120hz (if monitor supports it)
3. Don't forget r_displayrefresh

Worked for me, when you start up a game the screen reboots to the resolution and refresh rate

remove the fucking pin then... no edid problems. (done it with 2 crts - no problemo)

If you have a 120Hz monitor vs a 60Hz monitor, they refresh the image on screen 120 times/sec and 60 times/sec, yet the human eye can't tell the difference between anything over around 50Hz, so what's the difference?

Obviously the response time of a LCD being like 40MS will fuck you up because you're seeing things 4/100 th's of a second after they happen, but if you have a 2 ms response time on an LCD, surely the 2 ms response time isn't going to reduce your LG aim by 5% or more?

if you have a regular lcd / tft which they sell nowadays com_maxfps 75, than first r_displayrefresh 60 and than 75, if you see the difference think about 2-3 times this difference, and you prolly know whats between 60-125
