First of all, awesome mod. Especially the keel model is great.
So far I only played some duels in gtr mode (in gpm, once i switched to LG, the LG hum sticked, repeatable, linux ubuntu 11.4 i386 + nvidia gfx card).
I like the shortened explosions and the thin shaft.

Good setup options. Needs a interface for listen servers tho.

What I would like to see is a vq4 option. I always liked vq4/q4max gameplay and would like to be able to play that too in gtr.

We could add a setup for listenserver, it's severly broken (which is listenserver in a nutshell) but id rather provide a .bat file which starts a dedicated server and then a client connecting to it. Either way it could be added :)

About a vq4, well, it would be nice to have all in 1 package (vq4 shouldn't be the horror to maintain?). I am not set to one gamemode or the other, choice is always good.

Adding vq4 back is just removing the comments :) I already got it set and working so shouldn't be much of a hassle to remove two // bars to get it working again.

It was removed due to many reason but having to many choices of which gamemodes to play may be more of a negative then positive side. But if the majority want it back then it's no problem.

in the menu of normal q4 or Q43A, you goto the start mp game menu, and choose dedicated no, and start a game, the game will load and run on your system, then when the map is loaded, clients just connect to your system IP, and you can play as a listen server

if you have GTR, make a server conig, exec the config in the console on the main menu. then type spawnserver, and make sure net_dedicated is 0 before you spawnserver

militia is beta MP and last release with militia name was 2 years ago, did not on the mod for a year, and renamed it to Q43A which isnt beta MP

you will not get the "this mod is for * player only" error, Q43A is probaly the most flawless code you wll ever play quake on, with many random crashes with because iddict:: have no fail safe, just assert that does nothing when not in debug build, and many other crashes/glitches/all vanilla stuff has been fixed through recoding most of the main classes in the sdk,

the projectiles are 100% serverside, all with physics, no hitscans are used, no prediction is used, all projectiles are pure physicsObj serverside just like the player model

and a endless amount of changes, that just fuck all of your heads up when trying to explain some of them

the blur effects and ground shaking etc, are in SP, and have never been in any MP game on idtech, you can disable them in the server config, and set a custom player run speed

You just don't need any skills to move when you have dodge jumps. Accelerating via strafe jumping and circle jumping is possible in Quake 4, so there's no necessity to add this console game "press X to win, press F to move faster" shit.

Q3 bunny hopping is a glitch in strafe jumping, its how "pros" fly around maps while jumping, the longer you keep the bunny hops going, the faster you will travel and further the distance of each hop will be, todo it in Q3, you have to move the mouse left and right

Firstly, bunny hopping was a bug in Q1, but it was implemented in CPM intentionally. Also there's no any bunny hopping in VQ3 at all.

Secondly, skillful bunny hopping is a matter of selecting right view angle and turn speed precisely. That takes years to learn.

Thirdly, never try to explain a DeFrag player what Q3 strafe jumping is. Just don't do that.

Yes. I'm unbiased and think at this point that Q4Max is better, mainly because GTR is currently very buggy. Many crashes often with "snapshot" errors, crashes when u spec, also scoreboard can't handle more than 8 players. Timeouts make everyone have noclip at random times and it gets very weird.

Otherwise I think its a good idea, the viewheight change gives it a more solid feel and the weapon balance feels better. RL feels less overpowered than in q4max. I only played 2 ctf pickup games in gtr though so its hard to judge anything else. Once the bugs are ironed out itll be a good mod. I mean sure, Q4 is dead, but so is Q3 now that QL is here, and ppl are still playing cpm, so why not play Q4? :)

Spectator bug and crash is almost fixed, same with scoreboard item heights. It now works with 16 players on the server which is 4 more then average of what there are on any game servers.

The timeout issue after 2 timeout I'm looking at. I've also added some other features that have been requested.

i'm using fedora 15. if i put the gtr folder of gtr_v070.zip in ~/.quake4/ instead of the actual game data folder, i have no crosshair.
