I have EC2 and its ok mouse. If you like DA you will like it.
Thumb buttons are worst than DA imo because you have to push them too hard to get it pressed which mean they have to travel deep to get it registerd. Not a fan of it.
Shape looks like DA but its not. Middle finger or MB2 rest is very low so you it feels awkward to hold sometimes. Only Heat0n can hold it comfortably like that.
It is way overpriced too. Where as DA feels it worth that amount of money.
In short buy another DA you will be happy.

ec2 thumb buttons are almost exactly like the DA in shape, so that might not apply to me since thumb buttons are higher on the EC1. Not sure yet, haven't had a chance to try it out.

Dont like the buttons on model 1, too far behind for me, tracking is good but prediction is too strong, liftoff is good enough, didnt like either kind of surfaces(mattblack/white), logo gets abraised too easilly, big feet is a lose for me too much friction, buttons could be clickier too mushy atm, buttons aboit too tight and noisy doesnt feel lubed, but i do like the shape and the whole mouse feels well build, guys if you see this keep commenting cause zowie and team is reading this to improve their future mices.

well if the ec2 buttons are anything like the DA buttons then there's no room below them for my thumb to rest.

I'm not suggesting a height issue of the side buttons, more like a front back one, its too behind compared to DA or 3.0

well I've owned 3 iterations of the Death Adder, and I keep going back to my IE3.0 due to lift off distance, thumb button placement, and the grip on the right side is too sloped on the DA, causing you to have to grip it much more tightly than you would the 3.0.

Funny cause i like it that way, i find the ec1 a tad too narrow

EC series got all those problems fixed

ec2 thumb buttons are higher than on DA, the mouse is higher than DA overall eventhough it's a small version, could take some comparison photos tomorrow

yeah, intresting for me too. only shit thing is prediction, but if it's same as in mx518 etc, I can live with it.

-Polling rate isn't very stable for me (1000Hz default), you can set it to 500Hz by holding down one of the thumb buttons but it's still not stable, this is probably because of my older motherboard
-I don't like the DPI levels of 500/1000/2000 but that's preference I suppose
-Scroll wheel changes color depending on the DPI you're using, looks kinda fruity but not a big deal
-Tracking is weird, seems overly smooth and feels different than every other mouse I've used

Shape, weight, quality are all good but because of the above issues I prefer my DeathAdder black edition

Yes its over smooth and not natural.

Its because they use a different approach, the sensor will not be sending data is there is no need to(eg. tracking at low speed) zowie claims it saves cpu cycles. Tracking feels smooth? overly jagged for me when making micro movements because of prediction, if your smooth means straight line its because of prediction.

I think its a great mouse. Using the zowie ec1 here. Its not perfect. I agree the buttons are mushy on the sides a little. But I really like the sensor and dont find the prediction nearly as strong as say the MX518. But no mouse ever effects me in game unless its got a really crap sensor.

As for the skates you can sub them out for the zowie speed skates (pure teflon) or stick some 3.0 skates on the bottom which makes it glide like a 3.0.

Its expensive for what it is but its a great mouse IMO and I'd take it over the deathadder. However I'd play great with either.

If anything I think you should not switch the Zowies skates. They are no better ones out there imo.

He was just say swap the ec shaped zowie skates for the 3.0 shaped ones from zowie too.

And I just said that there are no better ones then the ones the EC comes with imho.

Idk what they are made of. I can only say that the EC is the best gliding mouse I've ever owned (and I own a lot). The Skatez come with rounded edges too so they cant cut into cloth pads when new. Swaping the default skates of the EC with something else is just a bad idea imo.

Replacement skates from zowie direct probably. Either that or the hyperglides or the Puretrak HD glides when they are eventually released.

Edit: Hm, these are white, while the EC comes with black ones. I've seen these white ones offered as the "original" EC mouse feet on a couple of shops though. I don't know why Zowie calls them "Speedy" and if there is any difference. I doubt it.

There is a difference. The stock skates are teflon blend white the speedy skates are pure teflon and a smother glide....I have both here.

Too much friction imho, and the 3.0 ones are rounded too.

actually I don't like the stock DA or the IE3.0 feet. I use Hyperglides on everything.

I had the EC1 but it malfunctioned after like 3 months so I got a EC2 as a replacement. If u like the DA / iE 3.0 shape, def. get the EC1, it's just pure awesome. The prediction you WILL get used to, besides this the only problem I had was slight jittering on cloth pads. This is easily fixable by running it at 500dpi. Highly recommended.

I prefer the EC1 after using both for a while. But I'm very use to the DA & 3.0

EC2 since I play mosty RTS based games these days, both shapes are great tho. if ur a fan of DA/3.0 -> EC1, wmo/g3 or whatever -> EC2 imo.
