i hear ya. lots of unhappy customers. that's how badly id is handling this game.

visje aka bliksems is a very good player. so good they (everyone else) even tried to ban him (even though he doesn't cheat). You can see the aftermath of that (when he first got banned) on threads here on esr. Bottom line, his complaints are due to him being not having enough people to play with at his skill level (he genuinly doesn't try to slum). So new players banded together to try to remove him from the game. It's a sad situation for everyone involved and only proves how poorly skillmatched this game is.

id won't add more tiers (as it gives the appearance of a dead game, due to less servers/games/people playing on less servers)
and on the other side of the coin they won't remove skillmatching because then it would become an even bigger slumfest.

its' a no win battle for both id and the community. Hence why this game is failing. (one of the reasons)

His complaints are of people hacking against him and about ping, not noobs. From what I see he mostly plays FFA anyway and if you complain about facing noobs in that you would just be an idiot.

Why would they add more tiers? They are lucky to even get tiers. I started in 2004 with UT and had to fight my way through months of getting raped before I started to get anywhere.

His complaint about noobs stems from the fact that noobs kick him from servers (ca under visje) and (ffa under bliksems)....

i don't really see anything special - he was playing noobs and using only shotgun on space chamber, before it was nerfed aswell. with 4k games of ffa under his belt, probably way more that seems like an entirely plausible thing to 'achieve'

Because duel is the end all argument amirite? Your average dueler couldn't hang in a team game because its'... wait for it... a diff game. To say one is better than the other though is ridiculous. Duelers know duel maps inside out while visje knows every ffa and ca map inside out. Neither would fare well playing against each other in other modes. But i'm fairly certain visje would fare better as ca and ffa are far more demanding gametypes than duel. In ffa and ca (at high levels) you're basically being shot at every 2 seconds and have to know exactly where to move to avoid that and to position yourself a step ahead of their next move. In duel, not much happens during item pickup times and i've seen plenty of duel games to attest to that where the only action takes place during the few seconds powerups are available. I'm not knocking duel, but i know ffa and ca are a harder gametype to adapt to, exactly the reason why visje would fare better in duel in comparison to top duel players playing in ca/ffa.

There's a reason tony won FFA against some of the game's best duelers!!! lollllllllllllllllllllllllllll

he is playing more ffa these days correct (under bliksems for a while), now who knows what alias he's under (he recently raged on the ql forums saying he was tired of people kicking him out of games so said he was making a new alias account and not telling anyone about it. ). But he plays primarily ca and ffa.

yes, he's dutch, yes he plays on euro servers, but he also plays on NA servers and he IS the best NA Ca player. I know that for a fact because i saw him dominate on NA CA servers beating the very best time and time and time again. I'm sure he's even more dominant in europe due to better ping, etc.

btw: dont' confuse demanding (ca and ffa gameplay) with "harder to master" (timing in duel). There's a diff. To play in ca and ffa games you have to have an extremely high level of awareness, fast reflexes (to move, shoot and dodge) and have to know how to use every single weapon. In duel you simply need to learn to time items, the rest is elementary. I've played some very good duelers in my time, and as bad as i am, i was able to do quite well against them simply by timing the power ups/ra/ya, etc. So you're wrong if you disagree imo

And we're not comparing how your "pros" would do against pub players, we're pitting the best in each mode against each other and i believe visje would win in most modes hands down, with the only exception perhaps duel. CTF prob being the easiest at a high skill with more emphasis on tricking. I definitely think a top tdm pro is better than a top dueler, cuz once again a more demanding gametype (although once all items, etc have been camped, it's hard not to own)

But again, you fail to distinguish the difference between demanding, and hard to master. Duel is definitely harder to master but ca and ffa players have much better reflexes/dodging skills/etc because they have to be able to fight off an opponent every other second. In duel, you only fight over pu and items, (eg: not every 2 seconds).

not much. Whatever it HAD to offer got deleted in the forum swipe (vbulletin upgrade at quakecon).

now it's a mere shadow of itself. The few guides available there come from established sites (4sg gaming, etc) and any guides or stickies i had, i won't put back up since they permanently banned me. So they can write their own guides (which id won't do because they dont have the time).

esr solely houses the competitive aspect of the game, everything pub is on quakelive.com and should stay there
