The other diff on this site being that anyone who doesn't agree on a certain subject gets flamed (childish behavior), while on the actual forums people are more likely to agree with people they dislike (more mature).

It's possible this game jumped the shark last august at quakecon 2010 but the na playerbase wasn't riddled with cheaters. I had only found 8 up until that point and those 8 i listed in another thread. But 7 in one day... i mean come on... if tha'ts not jumping the shark what is....

I wouldn't want to compare contributions to QL, as I saw all the issues with it when it was in CLOSED BETA. The game was always doomed to failure, and I've actively tried to get the community to stay away from QL to protect them from the coming crash. Some of them are trolls, but most are speaking in terms of comparison to Q3. Q3 always had some level of activity in Europe, just as Q2/QW/Q4 do, but it doesn't change the fact that it's bleeding out relative to the US scene.

There has never been a time when it hasn't. Never. In fact, the US scene has specifically been stereotyped for its cheaters because we have so many of them in EVERY game. Even still, there is probably only 1 actual cheater for each 20+ cheat accusations made.

id has been silent about QL in general - what difference does it make if they haven't personally updated you about one unimportant part of the situation? There is no such thing as a cheat-proof game, and the answer will always be to just play on private servers, or with people that you trust.

High level cheaters don't use auto-aim, or they use VERY specialized auto-aim that keeps their aim within acceptable accuracy levels. Argue what? It's probably more than possible to hit that kind of percentage if you're playing against newbies like you. The thing is, you're simply not qualified to make that kind of assumption based entirely on a profile, and you wouldn't be able to verify it if you actually played the person - even if they were extremely good, you have no way of telling the difference.

The demos of newbies playing? The only top tier cheating demos that get posted are ones where people have to timescale it down, and mostly only look for wallhacking trends. Not all cheat accusations are actually cheaters, and it's still incredibly hard to prove cheating when someone is good. Again with the reading issues. Even if id had just told them that they were changed, but didn't really do it, they still would have said it. Hitbox changes have zero impact on low level players. They don't care about that kind of thing, and aren't able to understand it.

It's DAMN hard to get banned here (just ask Jamerio), and even rare for someone to get probation. The fact that you aren't on probation yet should be a testament to the patience of any of the admins on this site. What campaign? Again, I stopped trying to get people to play Q3 over a year ago. Nobody here needs to actively try to kill QL, since everyone here is already well aware of the decline. It was always moderated the same, even in closed beta - you know, that place that you weren't. You couldn't see it, because you were too busy trying to become a moderator. The only reason you are raging is because they didn't pick you - if they had, you'd just be more of the same, but maybe a little less informed than the others. they're all at 43% lg overall now but it used to be higher and you'd still claim they hit above 45% rather consistently.

4 people in one game is news. That hasn't happened before. I've seen every post on the ql forum and here and noone has ever said they saw 4 or even 3 cheaters in one game. That's a bit over the top to say that's normal for any game even....

- every third-fifth game someone turns on his hacks in an irc match because they accuse u of cheating yourself.
- in 2005 the whole esl ladder service got shutdown because a public hack (mosquito) was used by almost every top30 player. So many got cought due to screens as people saw the proof the so called "schwarzer rand"
- Me and my mate used to play 2on2 aimmap ladder and out of 13 losses or something 9 teams got busted because they either used humanized aimbots or wh. So without those losses we would have been easily top20/30 instead of top50.

- arena lag hack. Nearly every fucking high rated rogue and feral were using a lag tool. Hf hitting those fags.
- Sharing gladiator/rank1. In s8 there were 9 teams!!! who shared rank1 in one battlegroup and blizzard did nothing against it ...

ESL has invested over 500000€ in the new anticheat system. I don't play 1.6 in esl anymore but I heard the new anti cheat does work pretty good. Tho there are still some privat hacks (with privat I mean coded hacks for 3-4 people) I quit 1.6 because of the german scene (average iq is 80 ...) and the huge amount of hackers in 08/09. I hope quake won't get the same problem as I doubt ID will invest so much money into a working anti cheat client.

I'm sorry i dont' have the answer to your question. IF i did, I'D DO IT MYSELF. I just thought ESR cared even a smidgen of a percent to work together to fix the problems in ql, but i was wrong in thinking people here really gave a damm, other than YOU apparently.

I have plenty of ideas, some i've posted in the past on the old ql forum. I will say this though, you and others should champion the cause that some people on the official ql forum are saying could solve the problem, taht being; make people sign up for an official account via a registration process similar to that used for the new battle.net system (with contact info, phone #, etc). Then, ensure that the information is verified somehow (phone txt) to dissalow the opportunity of people to aquire more than 1 account. Blizzard has been succesful at this with wow as well so there's no reason why it can't work for ql. It would stop all the alias' and then, besides incubus (since he has special permission from syncerror to have as many accounts as he wants), the cheaters should diminish extensively, since most of them wouldn't want to give up their info in the first place. It's a good first step.

so in conclusion, if you want to help, get behind that cause. It's the only one i've agreed with up to now out of all the suggestions i've seen on this topic. There is otherwise no way to stop cheaters, as seen in this game and in others before it. Best way is to restrict accounts and ban permanently if someone gets caught.Overtime the majority will be caught.

p.s: i believe strongly, based on some evidence i've seen, that id does have something in place that detects drastic changes on ones statistics page and alerts the devs.
