You clearly have no clue what "admining" at Dreamhack means. If you knew you'd probably show more respect.

They are the ones that set up the computers, run the whole tournament, gather the demos for your viewing pleasure, deal with all the drama and player whine and just make sure it goes as smooth as possible for everyone.

And they do all this for free. I see no problem in givng them some spotlight.

If you lose every time, mr. Noob, then it means it's consistent, not random at all.
And it's just enough randomness to make competition exciting and not let anyone dominate extremely hard like noctis/zyv in 2v2 for example.

Coaches allow players to think about more interesting strategical plays instead of routine things like timing. By disallowing coaches you are just dumbing down the game.

And about map pool:
No one whines about you forcing new maps. People may be lazy to learn them, but they don't whine about it. Everyone understands that map pool should be renewed.
What people whine about is that of all the old maps you removed the most interesting one and still kept the most boring and the most hated one. That decision is really dumb.

Depends on what you find entertaining? It can be entertaining to watch some really good players making nice strategical plays and having an insane timing on the items!

Personally I really enjoy the timing part of TDM and when I played some Quake 4 where coaching was allowed for a while(dno how long or if it was just in one cup or sth) it was very frustrating to play against.

Better let the players who play the game practice at all aspects of the gameplay.

If they fail at one of those tasks they arent the best TDMers. The best will be the ones who can combine the skills of both strategical play and timing! :)

Who says they fail at anything? It's all about effectiveness. If you can focus only on strategy without any distractions like timing, it means your strategy will be more effective and creative, which will lead to more interesting strategical games. This does not depend on whether you are best TDMer in the world or not. Any player will be better at something when he is focused on it, compared to when he also has other things to do at the same time.

But is there any inherent reason for this? What would become wrong if we delegate some tasks to a specific team member? We already have that players in team are not universal, one player may be better RG aim, another may have better positioning, etc, that means that players already divide their roles in the game, some players hold specific areas of the map, there is usually a dedicated quad runner, etc, so what bad would happen if another team member takes yet another role?

Sure, it might become more effective and creative with a lot more focus on fragging. But you remove one aspect of the game..which is timing..imagine 1on1 without timing? You also remove the need for a player that is a good timer, which is a skill. Sure he can become a coach but what if he wants to play? A team should have players with different skills.

Im a UT player and coaches have never been used there. I just think that timing is a very important skill in TDM because it is hard to remember timings and do smart moves. It's a skill that requires practice and personally I get very impressed when I see players controlling power ups over a whole game.

What exactly is so fantastic about adding numbers in your head?

We don't remove timing, someone (coach) still has to time items and players still have to use that timing information. Also, with a team member dedicated to timing, it can become more advanced, for example, not only powerups and armors can be timed to the second, but also weapons and maybe even ammo, which is all very important in TDM. So this way we actually can expand timing and use it in more complex ways.
Calculating times is not really a skill in the sense that it cannot be improved indefinitely. It is a routine task that can be performed quicker or slower, but it's impossible to find "better" item respawn time, any player will calculate it exactly the same. And it is quite easy to practice adding numbers and learn to do it quickly. So, basically, at some point all players become pretty much equal at it and time calculation becomes just something that equally distracts all players from other things, and it doesn't make a lot of sense to value it as a skill, because everyone is equally proficient at it, it does not differentiate more skillful players from less skillful. It just becomes a distraction, similar to my previous example of having to juggle balls with your legs. And there is nothing wrong to leave it to a coach and let players focus on their skills that can actually make difference.
