There is no good food in UK in general. Infact, it would be fair to say that english food - by and large - is outright disgusting. The most famous food over there is plum-pudding - thats how bad it is.
On topic tho, i have to agree that Germany is a terrible country.
depending where. i live in a rather small city with very few people I get a long with. everyone knows everyone (even if it is 90 ppl that live here but the university is rather small etc.)
I cannot speak for bigger cities because I have never lived in Hamburg/Munich.. you name it. But overall I made the experience that I, a German, being a abroad, with the knowledge I have, it is quite advantageous.
Also people up north in Germany are quite weird, too. They are not very open and it is hard to get to know new people because everyone is concerned with themselves. This makes it quite challenging for me who is rather open and likes to chat with no hidden agenda (hello girls that think i want to have sex with them because i just want to talk).
Alright, cause I'm seriously considering going to Germany for a year via Erasmus. My options are either Hannover(Universität Hannover) or Leipzig(Universität Leipzig). I know little about either, I'd like to go somewhere where the people aren't too introverted towards foreigners. :)
hamburg and berlin are definitely fun places to be, i like frankfurt too but am biased because i was born there.
i've been to both leipzig and hannover, can't tell you much though, i'd probably prefer leipzig, but that depends on your interests/money(leipzig should in general be cheaper)/your subject at uni.
my gut feeling tells me you are better off in Hannover. But I can be horribly mistaken :x you better ask someone who studies there and get your info first hand.
I would recommend going to Leipzig. Cheaper and I think the people there should be a bit more friendly. ( especially the girls )
It also a bit nearer to Berlin in case you want to have a visit. Or you could check out Weimar or Dresden for example. Plus a train ticket to Prague shouldnt be too expensive.
on the other hand regarding travelling: hannover is in the middle of everything basically and well connected, if he wants to travel throughout germany anyway instead of staying at one place, it's something to consider.
