When do people learn that the sole aspect of a game lies in teams playing it where from duelers emerge. If you want duel demos or information, you can find it or view it in demos, streams or whatever is written about it.

There's still a lack of support in team mode information though, but I guess in Argentina there isn't much of a 'team mode' scene. Pretty much declining in Europe as well though :p

So you actually think teams like colwn and Reason will keep playing when the prizes in TDM dry up?

Some teams, like yours, don't drive on winning stuff to keep playing. A lot do though.

And sure there will always be teams around to play, also in CTF. But you won't find the real top players showing up multiple times a week in any mode anymore to play in cups and leagues without any prestige or prizes to win.

In that aspect duel could be the right choice to bring info on a website. But if you think team modes are growing, I really doubt that looking at sign ups for the upcoming cups. Looks pretty lacking of high level teams to me, in both modes.

The problem is, TDM is inaccessible to new players. Even pub matches, which should be disorganized, uncompetitive messes, where any random joe can jump in and quickly play a few games, are over-organized and hyper-serious.

Pub games should be like 8v8, or 7v8 or whatever random thing happens (with players coming and going all throughout the match). Instead, teams are always 4v4, and each team is chosen carefully, and everyone else has to wait 20 minutes until the next game, and if they suck, they won't get to play anyway or they'll ruin the game for everyone else because everyone is so fucking severe about every dumb pub match.

A game has to be fun before it can become competitive. What's fun about treating a pub game like a military operation or a concentration camp? Pubs are where people are introduced to the game. If they enjoy it, then they join a clan and play samurai style.

Well ye I know that. CTF in 8v8 on a public is obviously more friendly to new players, because they can still get a frag in standing around a corner when 2 or 3 players run in. It is sometimes pleasing to see a totally unknown player pulling of a good rocket and reacting happy about it in chat.

TDM public is kinda compromised with a 30 second weapon spawn. I can imagine that new players don't want to wait for a weapon, because they have no idea of timing yet or saving ammo. But I reckon the 15-20 seconds servers are still running? Still a bit too much for new players I reckon. 3 seconds in CTF on weapon spawns is a bit more satisfying. Also free for all works well for them, although it pretty much destroys the fun when a way better player takes a good quad and wins the match within 3 to 4 minutes.

They should make some 16 slot servers with a full 20 minute game running without any limit of frags or score in team mode without ridiculous weapon spawn times. That way they can at least learn the basics of the game (weapon usage, frags, game play, individual tactics etc.). Clan Arena some sort goes into the direction, but being destroyed by 3 teamed players and having to spectate a total retard who hides in a corner for the next 30 seconds isn't really exciting to get into the game as well :p
