abyssus has higher perfect control speed but higher lod too which can be annoying. and i personally think that the sharp edges at the sides make the mouse uncomfortable to grip not to mention its rather small size.
mx518 on the other hand has prediction and the ledge at the right side of the mouse can be annoying for some. if you asked me i would choose mx518.
get the new razer naga, i can bind every weapon + team binds to the mousebuttons... so awesome. it also won multiple awards by respected gaming magazines.
having used both, i'd say the abyssus is just a bit better overall. the mx518 is a good mouse, don't get me wrong, but the abyssus w/ tape under it (to reduce lod) is one of the best mice you can get right now
Abyssus:
+suit well all grips types.
+better sensor technically (LoL edition only)
+OK build quality
-good switchs but kinda mushy plastics - make the force for click too easy.
-cheap made scroll wheel
-no 500hz option (only 125hz and 1000hz)
-High LoD
Mx518:
+suit very well plam grips and hybrids.
+flawless sensor
+very well made
+good switchs - require balanced amount of force.
+good scroll wheel for gaming only (bh and etc)
-build in prediction that cannot be turn off [personal].
-not the best scroll wheel for daily usage
-glossy on top.
-modrate/high LoD
-only 125hz, but can be oc'd to 500hz by third-party program.
-glitched driver that make the mouse perform alot less than reality.
i have both versions, old abyssus (2008 i guess) and the new LoL edition, and i must say the new one has a better wheel and it doesnt jitter :> old one jittered like crazy on certain angles and wheel was cheaper.
Thanks you very much for confirmed, thats is very nice to hear actually.
What about glossy sides? still exist at LoL edition?
Anyways...looks like Razer are going to the right direction finally, first non glossy sides for the Black edition and now this. :)
Well, compered to Mice I used I found the Mx518's scroll wheel to feel cheap..
But dont get me wrong, imo the mx518 is the best scroll wheel on market when bunny hopping, it just the metrials using in the scroll wheel itself feels cheap.
Also the ime3.0/1.1a are goods but suffered from random jumps ingame bug.
Keep in mind with the g500, the sensor is closer to the front of the mouse (near your finger tips), so I have heard from people it can have the effect of feeling like a higher sensitivity because the front part of the mouse moves more than the rear.
I have also heard people who dislike the way the right side of the g500 is designed. People have complained about being able to find a place for their pinkys. I hear that a lot on a number of mice though so I can't really speak from experience as I have not ever encountered that myself, nor actually used this mouse.
A lot of claw grip users sand that ridge off (on the MX518, at least). I claw grip and have been considering doing this although the ridge position doesn't bother me as much as it does some people with different size hands.
Probably a long shot but uhm.. I really want to replace my diamondback with a abyssus, but I'm afraid the sensor will skip because of the surface of my Xtrac Hybrid pad.
abyssus is better,
why ?
because the abyssus is lighter and smaller than the logitech one (you would say this is a question of tastes)
but also the sensor is better, as its more accurates and it has no prediction, i played with an abyssus for about 1 year when it came about, got bored about the jitters (i have a goliathus speed mousepad btw), i gave up, and bought the MX518, its a very good mouse but the shape is very particular, its a very nice one and globally one of the best mouse ever, but then i got bored about the size that was limiting too much my reflexes, so i bought the abyssus again from the official website so they could give me one of the abyssus with the firmware fix (with no jitters on it) and now im still using it and its awesome.
Also, a new MX518 is going to be out in july called the G400 so the MX518 is dead,
