hes as good as before

and by that i mean sub-top-level. people tend to forget that while he was great in q3 tdm & q4 duel, he never was on the top in q3 duel. having a decent match (loss) against av3k and beeing on par with stermy in training, thats exactly where he is.

not saying hes bad or something, hes actually good for passing group stages and very entertaining (cuz of many +fwrd) but aint and never was able to compete with the best duelers. its odd to me how fanboys tend to raise him into godlike spheres while he was never better in q3duel (id even say his mate fox was the better q3 dueler)

not really, all he won was the eswc group match, otherwise I remember cooller beating him in online matches with twice as big ping. Cooller also beat him at quakecon 04, qlan 2. So get your facts straight, please.

on aero at times looked like he's hitting 8-10 of them in a row, while avek collected every single armor there is, tox stayed in the game by playing insta. not even cypher does that kind of ridiculous stuff :p

Have you seen his "timing" and positioning?! The comeback was great no doubt about it but avek let him back into the game. The first kill was avoidable and usually avek doesn't peak for such a risky rail. The other games were kinda boring as avek played with him. Imagine what strenx would do to tox and already did.
I don't understand that hype. People always hated on strenx and on k1llsen but if toxjq does it he is good. Yeah his aim is great but he isn't the best aimer nowadays. Also his movement and dodging is stale just watch the ra rj ...

K1llsen does this on a regular basis and imo k1llsen is the better aimer in ql. People will flame me for that but if those two would met in their current form k1llsen would shit on him even without prac ...

hm... i have to disagree, avek wasn't serious about this but tox looked fine.

i thought his rail was already exceptionally and his movement almost as good as ever - and tox had amazing movement in quake3&4.

the way he lines up his dodges with his mouse aim is something to learn from, sure right now he isn't a top dueller but he could very well be in the near future if he puts some more time in.

tox positional advantages were shit cuz he tried them when av3k would know where he was so they would exchange damage, and also tox sucks at getting major items.

Strenx beat tox like some ridiculous score on aerowalk before too, so abusing aim won't help tox for quakecon, as everyone in duel needs strategy to win now. (since even strenx gets taken down by ppl he out aims)

His aim looked fine. Agreed on that but the rest was just not top5 or even top10 material.
I mean he pushed for kills which just doesn't work in ql. I'm not sure whether those pushes were doable in q4/q3 but those things just don't work in ql. On top of this his positioning was really bad based on item timings. Avek wasn't even aiming well sometimes. He was missing some easy rails on t7 and still tox got outclassed as avek was just playing with him. Tox's close combat rockets aren't top notch either and some players like rapha, cooller and avek are good enough to avoid stupid lg fights and destroy him due to stronger rockets/position/stack. Others have a similar strong aim. I don't think that tox has the timing ability of strenx, spartie or the overall combat skills of k1llsen and cypher yet.

He might have the potential to be a top3 player but right now he lacks a lot of nuances which are needed in ql duel and he has to put a lot of effort into it.
So yeah I think he is overhyped and I don't agree with 2gd who still thinks that he is the one ...

if ic decide to come to qcon, im curious to see whether tox will decide to focus just on tdm like some of the guys did at dh, or if he will try for the duel also. i think he has the ability to challenge top 3, it will just come down to how much training he can get in before qcon.
