My only real gripe about the 2233rz after a year of ownership is the backlightg bleed even with brightness set to 23, i would kill for deep inky blacks and minimal bleed, how am i supposed to play games like F.E.A.R and AvP with this thing ?

The so called LED just used LED backlight, it's LCD with LED backlight. True 'LED' display is used on some good mobiles (AMOLED), but not on any home moniors yet.

I have it, it's great overall. A CRT IS better, but not as much as compared to a shitty 60hz LCD. No noticeable input lag.
Minus points for bad viewing angles and worse dark colors(compared to CRT). The stand is kinda shakey so I use some little box to make it more stable. Can't think of any other bad things.

I had to make a custom resolution for 1440x1080, but otherwise no annoying issues. I'm on win7 too.

i just recently switched from crt to tft because my crt trinitron was broken. i risk to buy the cheap LG. picture/color/sharpness of the LG is awesome compared to crt BUT i feel missing 1 second when i play quake. i need very fast actions one behind the another because i like ffa. for me its now unplayable! in bc2 this missing time is there too but it feels not so hard (i just won more duells before getting the LG, common situation in bc2: me and enemy see each other at the same time and shoot, who will win this) .

prad.de says there is no input lag. but that doesnt help because reaction time is not good (15ms). reaction time is not the same as input delay!

trumode feature of LG (fast reaction times) is not working. it does nothing, i feel nothing. prad said it too in the old review.

option 1, you (cumbucket) and me buy the old 2233rz then we are on the safe side. with all the negatives like: only default res 1600x. but for online gaming its ok. actually its to much. i want for online gaming nothing more than 1024x :>

option 2. buy a big tft for doing all things AND for online gaming a little tft extra OR a 19" crt. i have spoken with ppl, to have two monis is not uncommon. i think its crazy to have two monis but what other way is there if the industry dont deliver good online gaming monitors?

my two cents:

From what I've read for those three monitors:

Viewsonic: might have buzzing noises @ 120Hz
BenQ: might have too much bleeding
LG: colors are not the best


Couple of days ago I bought the LG and so far I have no issues, besides the touch "SET" button which apparently requires more heat to activate (I have to use my thumb to give it more heat surface, actually I don't even know if it's heat or static sensitive). I had to calibrate the colors and now it's ok. I haven't tested yet its major feature (120Hz) because I'm waiting the power supply so I can install the new video card (current onboard are not capable to deliver 1080p@120Hz).

I've got the BenQ.
+ good ergonomics
+ stands rock still
- the menu sucks monkey balls

one more thing: If you enable that anti-lag-mode (forgot the name. Other manufactures call it thru-mode) some of the icons in QL get a nasty corona effect. It's not really too bad, when you get less input lag and some don't even quite see it.

I got that LG, its awesome. Had an 2233rz earlier, and thats was nothing compared to this one

I got a 2233rz myself and are pretty satisfied with it, coming from CRT.

Dept in colors, brightness, higher resolution, and it supports bluray 3d which 2233rz does not :-\ The smoothness playing quake is the same.

No reasons for me to think of upgrading tho, as the smoothness is the same, i favour the 16:10 lower res, and the brightness is only set to 55 here so its bright enough for me anyway.
Not interested in bluray 3d either, nor in the whole 3d thingy.

The only thing i don't like about the 2233rz are the darker colors getting even darker the higher they are on the screen.

One question, do the color grey look kinda greenish? It did with mine, thats why Im asking. It wernt much green, just a tad

depends on the mode/calibration.
I use settings recommended from the site prad.de for this monitor and have calibrated it in win7 too, so i don't have greenish greys.

There is no way, that the input lag is about 20ms in ql with v-sync disabled, no matter what they write.
I play guitar too on the pc, and when u set the latency of the ASIO-driver to 20ms, it's already completly off comparedto when you actually hit the strings.
I wouldn't even play 1min of QL with such inputlag.

as zealot says, there is a test method but its not perfect. at least we now aware of input delay.

This depends on a lot of things... when you have a LCD with no input lag, you only get the pixel lag which can be as low as 5-10ms on the best 120hz monitors.

But that's not the same as input lag at all and it won't really affect you, it's just that the picture in motion won't look as perfectly sharp as it would on a CRT/Plasma/OLED.

LCDs also work differently making the comparison hard to do no matter the method, they draw the new picture on top of the old one (sample and hold) while CRTs remove the old picture and display the new one instantly (hence the flicker at lower refresh rates because your eyes see the black frames in between).

A LCD with very low pixel lag still looks somewhat blurry because of the sample and hold effect, 120hz GREATLY mitigates this problem and it becomes really hard to notice it. At 60hz it's very noticeable though (at least it is for me) and at 75hz it's much better already (a good compromise when you're like me and don't want a TN panel).

if online gaming is a priority for you dont switch to LG. im coming from crt, having the LG.

I switched from crt (1024x768@144hz) to samsung 2233rz, and as i said, im pretty satisfied with it.
If you turn off v-sync, it feels like the CRT and no getting used to is needed.
