I would say brown are pretty good for fps. If you do buy one make sure to buy the key cap remover. I just pulled out one of my switches and I am screwed, no warranty and I have no idea how to put it back in.
Just get the key and plop it back in. Cherry MX key's are very easy to pull out and push back in. Mechanical Keyboards are amazing because no matter how much you rage at them you can just easily fix it all up (Considering if the case build quality is good).
But if the key-cap's stud is broken then you're most likely screwed. You can replace your key-caps easily by looking on geek-hack or deskthority for some websites that do custom key-caps. If your keyboard has a ffc-code on it of sorts then post it here. Apparently at the end of some of them codes theres a few letters that can symbolize what kind of key-caps their using. I'm not too sure on this however.
I've frankly got no clue on that end. I've never had experience with anything like that. All I know that it'll require lots of handy work and you'll probably have to buy another switch off some cheaply made SEA website.
Black switches because you will press the keys all the way down when you move anyway. No need for blue switches that gives you tactile+soundfeedback when you won´t hover over the registration zone anyway. Altho brown could be some middleground = good for both gaming and writing if your into that.
I would cheack out Steelseries 6gv2 or Zowie Celeritas version 2.
Just beware Steelseries went full retard and DISABLED the LEFT Windows key with a Function key for the Media keys on The F Keys, Instead of doing it properly like Zowie did, make the right windows key the function key, and able to disable left windows key for games if you derp enough to actually hit the windows key in games
I used to use ½,1,2,3,4,5,6,q,w,e,r,t,y,a,s,d,f,g,h,<,z,x,c,v, all those with Shift modifiers, CTRL, modifier, and ALT modifier, when i played wow as a rogue (inb4 herpderp wow trolololol )
And i never once pressed the Windows key by accident, neither have i since i started playing fps games since doom1 came out
All it does, is prevent you from using the shortcuts in windows, which is really bad thought out - As i said, Least zowie didnt go herpaderpa, and allows you to DECIDE when you want it disabled, on the 6gv2/7g you have no choice.
Razer Blackwidow (regular, not riced out Ultimate version) is a pretty decent deal if you're into blues. I do a lot of programming and general typing, so its a good compromise for me. Not really sure why they went with blues on a keyboard marketed for gaming, but it was the cheapest one I could find at the time.
I don't think so, but to be honest I really don't notice. I think it at least has rollover around the WASD cluster. All I use for Quake is QWERTASDFZXC, Shift, Left Ctl, Spacebar.
Yeah, in retrospect I wish I would've gotten a ten-key-less similar to that one. As it is now my keyboard is pretty far off to one side - I have three monitors and its lined up with the far left one. Doesn't bother me while gaming, but shifting everything over for normal usage is a pain in the ass.
My left wrist is held together with screws and wires, so the keyboard-in-the-lap is really uncomfortable for me.
I meant black, brown and red switch and I prefer reds for gaming as its faster to double click than both and faster response as its lighter and no tactile bump
:) kk
I just use an old IBM M keyboard with buckling springs. If that gives the ghost I'm thinking to go for the Unicomp Customizer. What can I say, I love typing hehe
its like typping in a normal keyboard, except you dont have the extra numpads, its a comfy feeling, the only bug for me is the enter key im used to a big one, and for some users us layout is a no go. other than that i just cant stop writing on this its madness!!! :D
They have alot of variety so if you dont like reds they have browns blues and blacks.
I'm thinking of buying the steelseries 6gv2 since it's probably the cheapest mechanical keyboard. Could anyone tell me a little bit more about this keyboard?
What kind of Cherry MX is it? I don't know much about it but I heard black/brown should be very good.
its awesome. get it. I thought the same when I was buying it (cheapest mechanical ) but its so good. And has full NKRO which lacks in Black Widow afaik.
I got SS 6Gv2 which uses Cherry MX Black switches. My first and only mechanical keyboard and best one I have used to date. So I can only recommend. Awesome for typing as well although some wouldn't agree.
