Abyssus +Steelseries 4HD/9HD - does it work properly? YES
Abyssus + Razer Goliathus Speed - does it work properly? NO

I have both pads and tried the abyssus on both of them before returning the mouse. I bought the goliathus speed because some monkey on these forums said it was jitter free but it jittered on it. The mouse worked perfectly fine on the 4HD but I just can't stand using a hard pad.

Well according to this site Cypher uses speed version of goliathus.
I guess that abyssus will work great on this pad If Cypher uses it?:)

A few posts down you can read through another abyssus thread that is full of pad suggestions for it and you can see someone else had a problem with multiple abyssus jittering on the goliathus speed. But you will also see most people recommending the goliathus speed in that thread claiming jitter free tracking.

Believe what you want. I was in your position, loved the mouse but it jittered on all of my cloth pads. I took the advice of buying the goliathus speed and now im stuck with an extra pad that I don't need.

Maybe yours won't jitter, maybe it will, you can just buy the pad and hope for the best.

And would you still use the goliathus speed + abyssus even if it jittered just because some pro uses the combination?

I just tried out the abyssus LOL edition and so far it doesnt jitter on steelseries qck, zowie p-tf or artisan shiden

That's only a myth.
Either it works on any pad, or it won't work properly on any pad.
Gol speed isn't something special, which would make a jittering mouse working somehow.
There are plenty ppl who suffer from heavy jitter on that pad too.

Are you saying if it jitters on one pad it's going to jitter on all pads? Because I tried one out months ago and it jittered like crazy on my qck+ and worked flawlessly on a goliathus speed I got just in case. And from that huge thread, seems to be the same experience for many others.

I know at least two ppl who have bad jitter on gol. speed too.
While mine works flawless on a qck, talent and gol speed...

I still say, if you have jitter on one pad, it is most likely jittering on other pads too.
On that other thread you could read, that the ppl had to turn the gol. speed 90° and other fun things to make it work "OK" (still jittering a bit).
This would be an absolute no-go for me, and i'd rather send the abyssus back, ordering another one, than trying to find a pad it works "OK" on.

The thing is: there are flawless Abyssuses out there, so go and find them instead of fucking around with mousesurfaces.

mine jittered on my qck (it was better though when i turned it by 45° but still jittered from time to time), but works like a charm on a goliathus speed

I doubt that it will work flawlessly on any pad, if it makes such troubles on the everglide titan.

While we are on the subject.. is there any high friction soft mousepad that works with the abyssus?

mine does work without probs sensorwise on a SS NP+.
The sides do seem to scrape somehow tho.

I'd like to avoid steelseries mousepad, they are just shit for low sens players using a razer mouse, isn't there anything else?

Allsop raindrop is a lill bit slower than qck, then there was the fatality mousemat, which is supposed to be slower too.

you can get more friction from the other side aswell:
just put the black mousefeet from the kinzu under the abyssus, and even the fastest soft pad should have enough control.

Well I kind of have to change my mousepad aswell, this is why I was asking for advices for a mousepad.

i thought control is higher friction.. but for highest friction use sandpaper 40 or lower :)

Go count the number of negative and positive feedbacks. You'll find out that they're almost even, with advantage to positive feedbacks. I took it from the bright side (enough positives for me) and that worked for me! No jitters whatsoever and my Abyssus is even a 'crappy' version with 1800dpi and 8-bit buffer only (comes from the bundle Cyclosa). We observe enormous difference amongst each Abyssus unit (very bad QC from Razer) so we do see Abyssus that jitters and others that don't in the exact same pad.
