Pretty much this. Past two weeks I've seen more blatantly obvious cheaters then I had in the past 2 years. Just like when OGC came out it had to almost kill the game before ID stepped in and put in punkbuster. I believe they'll do something at least to the effect of blocking public hacks. The the wallhacking argument most hacks are mult hacks not just wallhacks. So if a player is going to use a wallhack it's fairly safe to say he's going to use the other options in the hack as well.

It's getting out of hand though and the old, "demo and send it in" shtick isn't cutting it. Doesn't do any good that it takes a day or more to get one of them banned by that method, while in the meantime they can go on wrecking game after game. I really hope that the mod's "solution" to the problem isn't shared by the devs.

At least this current crop isn't interested in trying to pass it off as skill. They seem to be doing it mainly to throw it in id's face. They make no attempt at hiding it and they advertise where to get it.

What people are complaining about this past week or so isn't a matter of someone trying to deceptively cheat in order to come out on top. It's a handful of people exploiting the fact there's no anti-cheat system in place and trying to ruin any match they can join.

A form of pranksterism or trollism. People do it just to fuck shit up or piss people off or just to make adverse effects in the game.

hmm there are so many..cant even remember, saw someone in a duel server yesterday called zuukkk or something like that, also there are few people who I dont want to name have got a sudden skill raise (I dont want to name them cause they are good players without hack as well and probably wall hacking now cause its the current fad).

Also quakelive has had more online tourneys of late (probably more tourneys in past 3 months than quake 3 had in entire 2005-2009 period), you never know the guy you are watching is a wall hacker or not. Every average dueler can play like rapha if they are assisted with a wall hack, getting that good using only sound cues and map knowledge takes years of experience.

i understand your stance, but the only reason i wouldn't name these people is if i wasn't absolutely convinced of their cheating. otherwise, screw them. you lie down with dogs, you know... blah blah blah

That gets really annoying. If you google a bit you find easily a link to a public released aimbot/wallhack crap. And it was released .......... 2weeks ago. That seems the point why there was such an increase of cheaters the last days. The funny thing is that there is even a link to the other ESR thread about cheaters on that site.
I don't think this will get better until id introduces a useful concept against cheating. But i don't see that coming soon. At the moment they are just banning ip's but that's easy to bypass.

&c. why does it matter if cheaters are playing? they'll never win anything, and it's really fun beating them even though they are trying as hard as they can with cheats. I do have a slight problem with the few "good" players who are cheating, Sombra style, though. but most of them don't play in tourneys, so it's all good there.

well, it would appear that he's been banned. I've beaten about a dozen cheaters in the past 1-2 months, including a couple that were a lot better than that xStermyx guy. they seem to be everywhere now. QL is awfully laggy for me.. it's really frustrating to play even low-skilled players, but if I find that guy under a name I'll be sure to play.

i have to agree with amok, the main culprits appear to be on u.s and polish servers. I know at one point in time polish servers were very active but that doesn't appear to be the case anymore, much like in the U.S side. Perhaps there's a correlation there, declining playerbase = increased frustration of leftovers who feed on one another like a stranded passenger in the himalayas in the dead of winter with no food or water around. cannibalism at it's worst.

instead of preying on noobs, they're left to prey on their own (tier 4) and if they can't beat em, i guess they resort to cheats. It's a sad scenario, and one that id has yet, to adress. I guess they'll only attempt to fix it (like they did with tdm this last update) once a mode or playerbase is gone from existence.

That's with 140-150 ping. Apparently he likes to come to NA servers and toggle because I've looked at some of his games when he's playing on servers closer to him and he can't hit shit. This was Friday or Saturday.

yea what is it with that stesamo guy? i was up against him, he obviously knows how to play and i know he has been playing for a long time, usually when i meet a challenge im trying to outdo them, his lg just felt weird and i went spec to watch him, im not whining cause he beat me and in return accuse him as a cheater, it was ctf and i got no problems accepting ppl are better than me, but when i went to spec him its like his lg is hitting air, ive seen that on a few other people, their lg deliver dmg even when u see that their aim has left the "standard" dmg area. its like they lg after the players and it still hits... and he has got accustomed to aim that way so he is hitting 50% lg, not like he is waving his aim around a large area, but he is like following a path but the hitbox is like 3 times bigger, hitting on the side and after the player. hard to explain u have to see it, its not standard.

i asked him whats up with his aim, and he said maybe im not seeing what he is seeing. i resort to that he is not cheating but its like he has some settings, and a few others which makes their lg stronger than the rest. i can take ppl like strenx and he is spot on and u see that his aim is hitting the target but if strenx had that kind of lg that stesamo uses strenx would have like 90+acc lg and u would say wtf is that. maybe its a cheat, i dont know.

sure jamalz, but im comparing him to others, i dont see the majority of people delivering that much dmg after the player models, on the majority of players they stop doing dmg as soon as the xhair leaves the model, im talking about stesamos setup, it looks as he his lg has 3 times bigger hitbox. ive seen a couple of other players and their lg does the same, its like there is a setting or they really see something we dont. like the lg has a wider dmg area, looks effortless and avg 50% acc.

I dont know about this particular player, but old people from osp had the habit of leading the lg beam (it resulted from poor netcode in osp, if you did not do that it wont register), though in cpma or quakelive its no longer needed to do so, but some people still have this habit and it still works.

yes but if you go to the reported players profile it should say beneath the player model that they're banned etc
