if22: Can you tell me some things about the new FATpads (mousepad) you are bringing out soon?
fatal1ty: Well, they are going to be huge in width. Most mousepads that gamers use today are very small or medium size, and they have to pick up the mouse a ton to turn and shoot. But when your shooting with the LG and other tracking weapons, if you don't have to pick up the mouse for that short time and keep shooting him, you could possibly do 20-50 more damage instead of picking it up again.

I use 0.5 and 4 sens, don't need a humongous mousepad.

depends on whether he's using only the fingers to move the mouse or his whole hand. afaik ut champ gitzz needs about 20 cm for a single 180° turn but a ratpad is enough for him.

would like to know how many cm per turn fatality needs at slower movement on his mouse carpet, like when tracking someone with the lg (i say slow because the movement speed matters a lot with his accel)

last year he lost all close fights against zero4 in the ztn match because his sens seemed to low for z4's speed.

fatal1ty uses some printerpad which is like 1m² ,no moving problems :)

Acceleration doesn't really kick in unless you move your mouse fast.. he said it was nice with a wide mousepad for tracking opponents.. you rearly track opponents at the same speed you take flickshots etc. with, do you?

Anyways, it's better to have to much pad then to little, is it not?

would be very cool to see him perform above and beyond what may considered to be his prime days years ago.. will make the tourney all the more interesting.. especially if lexer winds up getting snubbed for a spot..

guess the modesty (or even truthfulness) kinda needs to become an after-thought tho, when interviews and websites become more an issue of PR and reputation.. especially when ya move into the realm of creating brand product lines based on your name..

i think the interview shows, that fat is one of the smartest guy in the gaming-szene, just like thresh was. not only he is very confident, which is great and entertaining, he uses his name to make some extra cash. at least he tries, and thats the right step IMO.
and its a scary thought, that fat trains 8hs a day over a 2month period. he CAN take out everyone, no doubt in that, but so can z4. i just wonder how much z4 prepared for qc2k2... they should make the final best of 7 anyway, since it might be the last big tourney for q3 with such big names in it.

For nostalgia I just watched Z4 thrash Fat on ZTN and P-T4 from QuakeCon 2001.

To beat Z4 then he would have to be about 4-5 times better than he was. Z4 has improved tons since then so basically Fat doesn't stand a chance.

Looking at Fats game its pretty clear why he loses out.

Fat uses LG where Z4 uses RG.
Fat is too slow with low sens.
Z4 has better RL & RG aim.

Fat does have better LG and PG aim but that can't save him.

I am noit really sure about fatal1ty's gameplay lately, but I think Zero4 has currently bigger chances to win.

personally I don't think fat is the most tallented player out there but certainly has some and a lot dedication. It may be different with more euros/russians going but with the current field i think there are only a few players who have the ability to go head to head with z4, given his practice I expect fat to be one of them. I've love some more players to be up there challenging but it will be a great tournament either way.

I spent a few days with John at the CPL and I must say he is a very nice guy. Don't confuse confidence with egotism...there is a fine line between them. I believe he is a very confident person and personally, I've never observed a "sucessful" person who wasn't. gl to him at Quakecon, I hope he wins :]

How it is possible to use mouseaccel 2.5 with an IE3 ???!.
I don't use low sens like Allpact, but with IE3 i use ONLY sens : 4.9 and accel 0.34.
2.5 ??????????! OMG, maybe he uses a negative sensi or razor drivers.

i believe fata uses 3/11 in his windows mouse settings, which makes it possible to play with a accel of 2.5. Oh and btw i dont play with a very low sens anymore :s

With 3/11 in do like two times the 360 (degree).

Reading this interview almost made the hairs on my neck stand up on end. It's so refreshing to see a world class player - most probably the world's #1 player at that, big himself up.

I love reading about players who KNOW they are the best, that's something which I really admire because it takes balls and nerves of steel.

Obviously you need a lot of confidence if you're going to win. This doesn't mean to say he doesn't respect the other competitors but you've got to have that edge, the ego trip and all the rest of it. If anything it makes for one hell of a tournament now, gah, the adrenaline, everything will be so pumped up, just wish I was there ;)

#1 at what? certainly not at Quake3 anymore.. most gamers don't usually need to say what rank they are, the people reading the interview know by having the players' actions speak for themselves.. one thing is saying that he is capable of winning this tourney, and that's where he's setting his sites, that's confidence.. another is to say that he's essentially been #1 for 3 years now, which he most definitely hasn't, that is pretty much just plain lying..

Well I believe he was and/or still is the nr #1 at the official CPL Rankinglist. :p

NiP was never ranked #1 on the cpl's list either, despite being pretty obviously #1 in the world at the time.. the cpl's ranking list will never be accurate when the majority of pro competitions happen outside of the CPL's events.. which obviously is the case for Quake3.. CPL's ranking list means about as much as the CLQ..

I'm really looking forward to QuakeCon, it's been a while since the top of Quake 3 1on1 players met. Looking at the previous results, ZeRo4 has got to be the #1 seed. But we all know fat can give 110% on a game if he really wants to win it. Will fat, the training machine, take back the crown of Quake 3 1on1? I'm so excited! :)

Would be great to have zero4 and fatality in the finals cause both of them has ruled the duel tournaments around the world past years. Sure there have been players like Blue, Laker, some russians etc. But they haven´t been as BIG/GREAT like these two excellent gamers.

zero4 has impossible rail, he's the smartest player i've ever seen, he approches his game with almost flawless style, superb decision making - all with complete confidence and zero carelessness.

if u watch their ztn game last quakeconn, fat hardly used rg at all nevermind hit many rails, all z4 had to do was step back and rail. fat relies on his lg and plasma which is very impressive, but zero4 can adjust, (as he did) and fat can't get near enough to do a thing. fata is FUCKED on t4 if they play it, even ztn and dm6 he's going to have to play better than he has ever done before because z4 is in another league, and i think if anyone is going to challenge him it will be fat. but i'd put all my money on z4 winning.

if fat's 'smack talk' in that interview was real from his perspective and he is genuinely very confident in winning it then GREAT because any other attitude he really doesn't stand a chance.

Ali has charisma which makes his comments entertaining, Fatal1ty just comes across as some egotistical geek.

In the razer cpl days he was best in the World but he's done fuk all this year and can no way consider himself no.1 of present

I think z4 is currently the better player, but you all seem to be forgetting that fat just said he got back from 1 month of practice with czm. Seems that you all forgot about czm. That in its self seems to speaks alot for the type of practice fat is putting in.

To maka, you said he doesn't stand a chance on dm6. If I remember right Spezzer ran with z4 and beat him (in his prime).

Let us not forget the fact Revnant beat z4 on T4 (and yes, in his prime)
