If a team cant sign-up in nine days they wont be able to play a whole season either so.

The only thing i wonder is if we made it fixed maps every week like Barrysworld, that was pretty nice and kept this interesting, rather than seeing the obvious same maps week in week out.

It's funny the very first season of #HoQLeagues (CA 2v2) I did it with fixed maps, there wasn't any complaints either which I was surprised at.

The only reason I changed was it was less work and the 2nd season had larger divs and I didn't want anyone arguing that such map was in twice and such map wasn't etc. I figured I wouldn't get away with it without any major trolls again.

Next season I think for either CTF/TDM we may do something different again like this with the maps or as Kuhliga did where clans can only pick the same map once per season so they're forced to use their worst maps against the lower teams, makes it much more interesting and tactical imo

People whine too much saying maps are shit when really its simply not one of their favorites and they're perfectly good.

If you ask me we should be going back to forced dates and times with set maps or as Kuh did. I know ppl don't think it'll work and most reasons for it are "i cant do.." or because they feel that QL isn't 'alive' enough to force things which can make some ppl not signup but I don't think it'd make much difference if any on signup numbers and if anything would probably make less no-shows because they wouldn't forget.

I can remember every sunday after a UK/BWRA2L simply arranging next weeks match with the clan and talking to opponent as they were guaranteed to be on as they had a match too.

Meh, I know I still live in some world where I wish I was 17 playing Quake and for some reason everything in my memory seems fluffy and nice compared to nowadays. Reason being ppl nowadays don't give a fuck about a no-show, so long as the games they do show for they either win or rage enough plenty about it thinking they're fking uber cool.

Wanna know what really fks me off? Ppl who think they're too cool to schedule games (officially using the site) or even schedule them at all.

Oh and whilst #HoQLeagues is running (forever regardless of activity) I plan and will get rid of 'lamers' like this.

Way way back in the day of UKCCL and UKRA2L I always ran my clans as a 'no lamer' zone (yes I was 14-17). Although granted at the end of m Q2 'career' I then joined the clan that fkd every1 off the most :)

comparing map picking between ca and tdm is quite stupid though.

i simply cannot understand the support for fixed dates, what if someone has something scheduled for that spot every week? he cant play, and in the case he's a key person in the team, the team wont play either. flexible scheduling with strict deadlines and rules is far superior.

forced maps sounds dumb as hell, what is the obsession in making teams play maps that they simply dont like at all? atleast the pool in this league is good, but previously we've had maps like dm6, cpm4 and osp6 in the pool and god would it suck to have to play those.

less maps in the pool means there's more practise time per map which increases the overall quality of every game and reducing the amount of old maps lessens the experience advantage from old q3 players, making games closer. teams simply should be able to pick the map they feel most comfortable on against their opponent. and if the enemy can pick their map every game you play, you cant simply ignore 1 of the maps completely since you never know for sure which map you're going to play, and if you dont prac 1 at all then it will quickly become common knowledge and your opponents pick that

My point was fixed maps FROM the pool, so every clan on said game week plays dp/tornado week 1, week 2 they play some other combination of pool maps. It just keeps things interesting rather than the same team picking the same map every week.

Was like this in pretty much every league i can think of back in q3. ClanBase being a group based cup was the only one doing it differently.

kuh3liga used to have a homemap system without forcing any maps per matchweek and no rotation of maps.

jolt used that system + fixed days for the games

I completely understand and to be honest agree, without contradicting myself as teams were able to reschedule with the opponents if anything like this was the case and if the opponent agreed (that is if I remember correctly mind).

I am not so sure about forced dates as just like frs said, if one player can't make it every week we might lose the team due to them not having enough or wanting to play with a weaker squad.

Given how small the QL TDM community is, we shouldn't be restricting ourselves like this.

keep in mind that this is just season one btw, the system is not set in stone but i certainly felt that it was worth a try for once. its a system that worked well in the past and we havent seen it in ql. i will reevaluate it after this season and see from there.

The community needs you guys to play in these leagues/cups for promoting further if we want to have any chance of competitions/organizations to pick up this game for tournaments, but also to inspire other teams to simply play.

as for playing in this cup... im gonna take my "summer break" off of ql after qcon, seeing as everyone else seems to be doing that atm, i'd like to think i deserve one too :P

It's been only few hours since signups were closed, divisions aren't yet made etc. and already one team dropped ;) (was 49, is 48 teams now)

they asked me to be removed because they could not guarantee to be active enough, good move and no reason to view it in a negative light
a few more teams will be dropped aswell if they dont have enough members in the squad and no irc channel for contact but i am working to get everyone in

Damn nice to have 48 teams willing to play. Dropouts will happen anyhow, but this is just epic that so many people want to play over the summer. If this season runs well, I'm scared to think what will happen in season 2!
