Of course it's still 'decent'.

The main reason why players have changed mice in the past couple of years is due to pressure from sponsors like razer and steelseries. I presume it will be in the players contracts to use them. Nine professional players out of ten will not have changed to a steelseries or razer mouse out of choice.

Also, top players are still using the WMO.

Toxjq, arguably the best aimer in the world, uses one.

Rapha, arguably the best quake live player in the world, uses one.

Cooller and Fox both used a WMO in last years quakecon.

Also, during (imo) Cypher peak in 2008, where he was unstoppable, he used a WMO.

I have no idea what has led you to conclude that the WMO is now inferior, but I assure, it most certainly isn't :)

Regarding the WMO, how many dpi is it? Is there only one version? I'm asking because i found some saying 400, other saying it's not 400.

But i want to point out something, cypher was using wmo in 2008 and when he switched to abyssus he kept same sensi/accel so i might think wmo was 450 dpi too.

wmos and 3.0s are either 400 or 420ish. Checked myself several times with a piece of wood, a ruler and a sens so low it felt like it was negative.

no it's not, I'm most certain that all of my wmos, imos and imes (two of each, makes a total six) have 430 dpi

measured 435 on mine, +-5 measurement error margin

well my imo1.1 is around 440 dpi.

u put a ridiculously low sensi (60cm+) then i make a 360 ingame very very slowly and i compare with phoon.us/mouse

phoon.us/mouse has to round some numbers + would be better to run the mouse on a guide and measure like to the millimeter.

i agree but phoon.us/ does let 8+ numbers after the centimeter decimal points, i think it's far enough.

Also it's at least accurate at 1 - 1.5 cm so with a 60+cm sensitivity it's at least easy to say if it's 400 or more close to 450 -445 -440 -435 etc ;)

But if you have a better solution go ahead and tell me how to test it.

I'm pretty positive the wmo I'm using currently is 420 and the one before that was around the same. The only way to get my ingame measurements and a site like http://phoon.us/mouse/ to match is either set windows multipler to 1.06 on the site or dpi to 420.

Weird. Gillz said he only started saying it was 420 dpi by accident, and then other people picked it up. Both of mine have been 400.

Yes, alot of people don't want to use all these weirdly shaped, supposedly better gaming mouses. Zero4 for example, used his old ballmouse like 4-5 years even after opticals had already replaced the ball mouses, he did change it when he found something similar enough with new technology but the point is that he did not care about better technology until he found a comfortable shape, weight etc.

not true that he "didnt care about technology", he used the ps2 port for his mouse back when everyone includin top players used USB, because he was one of the first to realize the advantage of a higher pollin rate (the ps2 port could be oc'd to 250hz since way back in the 90s). he was using twice the polling rate of everyone back when people were just using standard usb 125hz.

I used an intellimouse ps2 with a high poll rate and it was jittery as hell. it was fine in at slow speeds, but high speeds would cause the mouse to go crazy. I became a much better player once i dumped that pos and went to the wmo 1.1a.

i think you'r right, and regarding this point have come with another mind bugging question, i sthere different ways to handle the same mouse (wmo).

tox for exemple seems to take it in a strange way.

of course it's personal where you hold each finger, for example some people (like me) tend to claw grip their mouse with their thumb, pinky and ring finger while other will drop the ring finger, placing it on the right mouse button and than placing the middle finger on the scroll etc. etc.

I bought 3 wmo's off some dude for super cheap so I could try one, I don't know if others have it but mine have the shittest acceleration and every time I lift the mouse and drop it to turn around it clicks some of the mouse buttons randomly. Anyway, of all the mice I've tried the death adder is the one I'm personally most comfortable with. The thing I find enjoyable about quake is finding the right settings and equipment.

wmos have no positive accel. If you're getting negative accel, oc the usb. If you're still getting neg accel ingame, use accel. If you don't want to use accel, fuck off, you're in quaketown.
As for the button issue, isn't it the mousewheel ticking ?

wmo 1.1 had a version before.. i guess the wmo 1.0? the sensor was really bad.. if u tried flicking it will skip like crazy. you couldve gotten the bad version

But ya, I remember overclocking it to 1000hz and it still had bad negative acceleration. Maybe it didnt work properly or something. As for the random mouse clicking, when you lift the mouse up and slam it down with sufficient force it presses mouse1, mouse2 and/or the mouse3 button. So for every time I turn around requiring me to lift the mouse it would jump and shoot by its self. Anyway, been using a death adder for like 2 years now with tons of abuse done to it and it works perfectly fine for me.

Don't overclock the WMO to 1000hz, best performance is 500hz. I just received a WMO (white) this weekend and have no issues with it.

Well, I love the shape and weight on the WMO, but I have to agree with you about the annoying clicking and negative accel. My 180-s were only 90-s with the WMO. :-) Btw, you forgot the automatic mouse scrolling (MWHEEL UP) function, when you put it down harder.

I accidentally broke the little plastic tabs that hold the front of the shell down, so now the buttons are super hard to press. :/ Anybody know of a way to fix it? I might just epoxy it in and see if that works. Don't feel like trying to find another one and waiting for it.

Negative accel is a bitch. Unplayable. Great mouse if u use med-high sensitivty.
