there was a remade one without the borders that worked when you set cg_drawcrosshair 8 or 9 (i forget) and it may have been that way in cyphers older config as well iirc

I don't remember making any crosshairs, aside from one, that was for personal use and nobody else ever even laid eyes on.

Afaik he uses a custom made xhair which is sort of see-through dot (yellow dot with a hole in the middle). At least, that's what he used on DH.

i have a config question to, plasma, lg, and rockets are bright like i use a high intensity but intensity is set to 1, any more commands for this? overbrightbits is set default..

You can't do shit about that basically, except nerd tweaking stuff but the whole game will look pretty washed out.

I'm often curious why people keep asking about pros config and stuff, as if that is what really makes the difference.

There is no proof that a crosshair can make the difference. The only observation is that Cypher is extremely good and he uses a certain crosshair. Is that an argument? I don't think so. I bet he would be extremely good with an other one, the performance fluctuating only slightly. And similarly, somebody that is crap with another crosshair, won't get better by using his. And even if one does, how much of a difference do you think it will make?

I don't want to sound bitter - do whatever you want - but I don't really see why one would spend time with these things.

Sure. For instance, the crosshair cypher uses is really hard to rail with. It is easier to use a cross or a dot. On the other hand, I cannot play with a dot at all (when using rail!)... So it really comes down to preference and it is not bad to just see what other people play with and maybe take a way a thing or two.

small crosshairs like dot and cross are more suited for mg, sg, shaft, rail, as you actually need to track the model... youre more precise in tracking when using small xhairs...

As reasonable these things may sound, they are worth nothing as general rules. There are no studies backing them up. There is not even a consensus among pros. I remember seeing stermy using a custom zoom crosshair taken from q4, and it was a big cross touching the screen boundaries. Is killsen using the same one? I don't think so.

Pros configs span the space of settings quite widely. There may be some areas where we have a general understanding, like visuals/sens/accel/fov in relationship with accuracy, but even there things are a bit up in the air. And then people talk about crosshairs? seriously?

Now if one is curious to see whatever crosshair seeting, I'm fine. I somehow feel that fresh minds may get driven by these discussion into believing there is something to be gained, and for that I wish people would focus more on stuff that actually matters, insteadnof gimmicks like this one. I realized I actually am being anal, but I hope you see where I'm pointing at.

there's no headshots or anything like that in quake, the hitbox you have to hit is relatively large, no need for dots etc. as in rtcw/et/cs/urt/... in addition to that most mg/pg/lg fights are in close to mid range making this even more relevant, a dot could lead to even losing track of the enemy in the heat of the moment (esp. in team mods).

curiosity, to see if there are any new trends that have proven benefits.

In all seriousness though, in my experience using a command like that is just asking to bug out all the aliases. I usually ended up having to delete my cfg and restart the browser. I don't uses aliases anymore anyway.

More than likely. I have gotten the bug randomly from other stuff too, but it was never common enough to be that annoying.

Ah yeah, same here. You'd know if you got that bug though, it gives red errors in the console when you try to use any alias and you basically have to delete your configs to fix it .
