I'm guessing the "lol" is about the byes - the first round doesn't have many people paired since its a 64-man bracket with 38 signups.
If you really wanted to avoid generating those byes, you could set up phptourney with a qualifier round in such a scenario, so instead you would have a 32-man bracket with no byes, and the bottom 6 people would play out 3 qualifier matches to see who gets into the first round.
(But online duel tournaments of this sort, you will always have 20-40% of walkovers anyway.)
Then make sure to stick around - it seems there are quite a few people who wants to get games going in the US but they all suffer from the same phenomenon and give up too soon. :|
Yet another good reason to live in France : there is an incredibly active community of 7 players and we even managed to play 3 ( three ) ( THREE ) 2v2 in a row the other day ( THAT'S THIRTY MINUTES IN A ROW FFS YOU DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND ).
Quake should be a dead game cos its GOOD and good things never go into mainstream. I want it a hardcore hard game with tons of blood gibs and satanic symbols without no fucking menu only console so the nabs dunno how to bind keys and maps requiring heavy movement skills to even grab a rl and a crazy jump to mh that one learn after months of trying and getting raped
Also, it should be controlled via keyboard only. I hate those weak newschool noobs with their cheat mouses. LOL, any lamer can aim and bunnyhop with mouse... so keep it real hardcore, shove your mouse in your ass, fucking bitch noobz!!!!
Yes, but why does it matter? It's not a case of one causing the other, merely experience.
As it is now, I can see therm as wanting to create an artificial skill barrier (or obscure the knowledge and possibilities we have now to make it harder for newcomers).
I tried QW for a few hours and ofc really liked it but got annoyed about the HUD. I did not have any sense of my health/armor status and it annoyed me enough to not keep playing it.
Is the HUD as customizable as in Q3/QL? If so where can I find some proper HUD's? :>
Think you'll find that it has even more options for customization. :)
Edit: It would be interesting if you could nail down exactly what it is that makes it hard for you to keep track of your status as it's valuable feedback for the nQuake package (assuming that's what you used).
Just use dithes' hud, it's clean and pretty easy to adapt from a qlish environment.
At worst you'd have to swap armor/health locations but you get used to it pretty easily.
i downloaded nquake for the first time ever to check out the most hardcore fps game of all time as well, what's a good place to lurk for guides/cfgs/whatever?
speaking of qw, why is any qw client so far out of sync on 64bit linux? i've mostly spent time with ezquake while i was 32bit and all was fine, then moved to 64bit system and now audio is out of sync with actually actions on screen :(
Best place for that kind of question is probably #qw-dev or #ezquake on webchat.quakenet.org
I used to play qw exclusively on linux around 2003-2005 and ezquake was great even back then, also they have quite a number of leet haxor developers, so there is a high chance your issue will be fixed if you stick around in the chatrooms, or post on the forum
