well i have an lg w2363d which is second generation. its pretty good, both for games and movies, but dont expect a miracle. or idk maybe id notice something going back to 60hz.
well i just said dont expect a miracle so 120 =! 65 rail, 45 shaft.... and maybe if id start using a 60hz again id seen the difference for much bigger, than i think it is now...
I have the Samsung 2233rz, the Acer GD245HQ and now I just upgraded to the 27" Samsung SA950d. Out of the 3 I must say this last Samsung has by far the best overall image quality while still performing as good or even better in actual games. It's the only glossy one out of them but as long as you don't have a light source right in your back, it's fine.
Even 3d is quite enjoyable on it. Heh. It just costs a little too much for it's worth imo. 570 eur...
How are the viewing angles on the samsung? Considering getting a 27 inch monitor and been looking at the dell u2711, which is supposed to have excellent image quality (very good IPS panel), but not sure if I can take gaming SP on 60hz after being used to 120hz Asus vg236he. My biggest issue with S27A950D (which is the only 27" 120hz panel I could find from samsung) is that it doesn't have a vesa stand (rotation and height adjustment in addition to tilt) is that I get much better image quality from the monitor when I have it at the correct viewheight. Considering getting the samsung though, as I would like to have something bigger than 23.6"
Yeah, went by a computer store to pick up a new case for my secondary computer. Was very little color and gamma loss at pretty much all angles that I would normally use. Will probably get one, not too far from now.
Good to hear it performs nicely. Planning on buying it but I'm gonna wait for it to drop like €100-150 'ish first. Got a 2233RZ now, but my eye sight is slowly going worse so a bigger monitor would be nice :p
I'm still on the 17" dell as 2 years ago when I was looking for the 21" screen recommendations. How is the 2233rz holding up at the moment? Any loss of sharpness / increased colour bleeding due to its age?
Will do as soon as make a motherboard replacement since at the moment I'm pc less for another week or so \:@/ but am planning a series of upgrades as soon as my move to the south coast is all done.
Btw what's up with the mousepad? What happened to the mionix one you endorsed? R U BROFESSIONAL OR NOT???
mine's lovingly covered with a shitload of paperwork and next to an unopened carton of Orange juice for reasons stated above c:
the lg is the worst buy, u cant disable the "overdrive" disabling the 3d therefor u will get ghosting. get either the samsung or the acer, i went for the acer myself, takes some time to set up (doing it right) but its a great monitor.
"W2363D also has some very accurate Overdrive controlling which means that we see no tendency to overdrive trailing. I didn't experience overdrive trailing on dark grey shades either. Overdrive trailing is characterized as the halo-like effect that you can experience on some gaming monitors around moving objects."
There's a reason monitors use overdrive too..
Text looks oversharpened with overdrive though so that's a minus.
switched from 2233rz to lg and gotta say that this has like 50% less ghosting, same input lag and higher resolution. So I dont really see any reason to get 2233rz
I managed to hold on this far with my CRT, I really want to wait and see if they make IPS LCD that supports 120hz. This would be absolutely awesome and I can finally make the switch.
There was something I read a long time ago about this technology, but also I remember the developers cancelling the research because the cost to produce this awesome screen was way too expensive. Was that OLED? It was going to be just for monitors and nothing else.
Anyway I don't mind the wait as I'm happy with my Sony G520. Unfortunately reading other forums and watching people re-discovering 120hz all over again makes me sad. Apparently when you say 120hz now, people just say you don't need it unless you want it for 3D........WTF????
it won't ever truly be the same as CRT, but that doesn't mean it won't be worthwhile. The thing is, the fastest LCDs have a 2ms response time layered on top of whatever they get the input delay down to, so even if they get the input delay down to 1ms, the crt is still faster, because CRTs response time is not even measured in milliseconds, it's measured in nanoseconds.
