If you want to find out about heavily biased topics, like Global Warming, wikipedia is not the best source of information due to its open content editing, however for anything related to geography, astronomy, geology, biographies, etc... Wikipedia is an amazing source of information.
I worked for a company for 5 years but probably spent 30% of the time looking at Wikipedia.
Honestly though, I don't feel that much happier after playing flash games for 5 hours.
If I were you, I'd surf the web. Most people who consider browsing a waste of time don't read forums, news, articles and other stuff on specific topics that interest them. Just make sure it's not just mindless entertainment but rather something interesting and worthy of occupying your head. If I could, I would read headlines and articles from my RSS reader all day long. Wikipedia is great too.
Also, back in my days, we read books.
If you're not the reading type, you could do something potentially useful. Watch khan academy, university lectures or even take online courses.
