All of that could be legit. This guy is probably using tankjr enemy model with a crosshair with a hole in the center like cross 7 or cyphers custom cross. Those set up 'wait' rails are really easy to land, when any part of the enemy passes the hole, just click and u hit.

Have personally done the part at 36 seconds when guy falls down to quad. But he was spamming first to give u an indication he was gonna fall, i did mine in silence, just reaction.

1:06 the other guy spamming coming from RA also spams and goes back/forth toward RL in time with the shots. Either they both wall and are dodging each other, or 2 pros feeling out each others position from viewing the rocket splash of each others shot.

When you watch the version with wh 1, you clearly see that the enemy switched to LG _after_ falling down. So there were no sound cues available. ;)
This rail shot seems pretty impossible without a WH.

i've done that rail shot, this is the problem with me, what ppl see as hax, i've seen or have done the same shot without hax, so i'm always like 'if i can do it, so can others'

k1llsen/stermy etc would pull off ALL of those shots.

He didn't even stand in a proper angle to hit the shot. And I can tell you why: Because the enemy initally moved to the other side and he was trying to hit him on that ledge.

You can see how his crosshair moves to the left as the enemy went in that direction, but when the enemy instead dropped down to his right (remember that there are no sound cues), his crosshair immediately went in this direction and he goes for a shot that is almost impossible without proper setup -- or a wallhack.

If this was the only scene where he perfectly anticipated the enemy's movement in a matter of miliseconds (first going to the left, then dropping down to the right)... fair enough. But he does it so often in this one game, so that IMO he has to be either (a) uber pro, on a roll and really lucky or (b) hacking.

and concerning the scene starting at 2:00.

Once again his crosshair follows the enemy perfectly.

First he goes left, then center, then left again, then center again, where he hits him. All these crosshair movement are perfectly in synch with the movement of the enemy, even though he couldn't see him a single time.

This COULD be a really big coincidence, but not when it's that often in a single game.

I'd like to see these scenes with a moderate timescale (0.2 or something), because it's hard to consciously process his reflexive crosshair movements at the normal speed.

Believe it or not but I've deleted the videos right after I was done with the movie. Luckily, I kept the screens and vdub has an option to redo the conversion from tga->avi so there will be a no-music version in the next hour if I hurry up or in the evening if I don't.

The guy is most likely using a wallhack, and doing a decent job og covering it up.
But it is still visible in a few situations in the movie, even without sound.

I also kind of want to see where my teammate is going.

If he could see the enemy was screwing around he would have had a super easy shot. Instead he waits until he can see him and takes a relatively long while to line up the shot. In this case it is _extremely_ obvious that he did not do this. So if he was using wallhack here he would be going ingeniously out of his way to hide it. Did you notice that the enemy is looking straight at him for 5 seconds?
And when the enemy sneaks towards the ledge, he retreats just in time into his hiding position.

Plus, at the exact moment when the enemy turns around, he leaves his hiding position. This could be coincidince, ofcourse.

But then he also hits an ultrafast reaction rail when the enemy comes back. These 3 things toghether do look fishy to me.

look again, he hides at rail until the rail spawns, sees the enemy going towards rocket and then just waits until he comes back. happens all the time.

he was hiding at rail assuming that an enemy was at bridge waiting for rail to spawn. then rail spawns and he does what every experienced player would do, not go immediately out because if the enemy also hears the rail spawning he would turn to at least take a look.

instead he waits and times the enemy movement well. it looks suspicious, but it's something a good player would always do, unless in a rush for whatever reason.

I'm the last person to jump the gun. It just seems too dodgy. Enjoy defending all the coincidences, the best you can get out of it is "told you so", and it will already be too late, as the next "Cheater caught cheating" is already on it's way.

I find it funny how many people are still reluctant to believe cheats are being used "en masse" in QL, especially after having some mid-high profiles being caught. If they do it at the top level, what do you think the mid-low tier kids do?

Many whine and call this a ridiculous witch hunt, pointless and whatnot, but I think it's long overdue and just now them cheaters are being fried one by one. Of course it's not easy to always provide 100% conclusive evidence but when it's pretty obvious don't try to find rational in the irrational. The heartless case back a few months ago is the perfect example that springs to mind.

The only real problem here is that as of now, the only way of busting these cheaters is demo analysis which is far from being the optimal solution, but at the same time, the only solution. I strongly believe an anti-cheat is a MUST for all upcoming leagues and cups. We don't need id for that, there are a couple of external solutions out there and in the end it would be up to the cup/league organizers. The poll is there and speaks for itself...

I do not really believe your 1st statement. It's easy to say so, but if you gather 10 random demos from 10 random people and compare them against 10 demos of suspected/suspicious people I'm pretty sure you won't be likely to find the 10 random guys appearing to be hacking as much as you would the 10 suspected ones. Ideally the 10 suspected ones wouldn't be named beforehand to avoid placebo effects.

As for random joes and reputations I don't think this was the case until now. The guys who were busted, were busted good and even confessed to it afterwards, so this proves their system is working. But like I said it's not an ideal system and it needs to be closely monitored.

I believe lorfa is right about this one - not about all players, but all decent and above. Whenever I play high I get a lot of moments where I'm like "this looks like a wallhack", because it is pure luck and cannot be rationalized. And when you put 4-5 moments like that in a video and leave out a zillion other ones which prove that there couldn't be a wh there you've got yourself another suspicious player.

After we have somewhat of a final verdict and both my and this guy's nick is revealed I will publish the demo.

So what do you do when one of these high profile players pulls this "wh-esque" moments over and over again? Ignore them and just blame it on them being good every time or actually go have a proper look at what's up? I think we all know the answer to that...

The sad truth is that nowadays you can't rule out almost anyone after all that's happened. This air of uncertainty can only be pushed away by using some sort of anti-cheat in online leagues and cups.

I don't want go into this argument about a community jurisdiction system working like that without having 100% empirical evidences in hand. (because it brings nothing but hate and shitstorm into my face followed by some massive ignorance) but I would like to ask just one single question so I can understand this more deeply :

When the prosecutors are presenting the case to the community the accused has two viable options, right?
1, defend himself (with or without supporters)
2, confess
Could you tell me please what happens when he choose the first?, Like how can he defend himself and come out 100% clean from a situation like that?

I think this is a legit question.

In my opinion the proper behavior once accused is:

- make a concise official statement about your stance (Yes I did cheat / no I did not)

- if you confess, please tell the full story. Half-truths will only increase the hate. A honest confession won't save you from ban, but at least it's a first step in the right direction.

- if instead you are innocent, provide the best support you can. Upload demos. Explain what happened. Be concise and to the point.

- Do not post stupid/irrelevant things, like a legit demo of one match if the accusation is about another match. Just reply to specific queries. As you are under the spot light, everything you post counts.

I think the number of false positive (banned but innocents), is generally low. A honest player usually has the means to defend himself. I think everybody had a few unbelivable shots/predictions over the years, some of which may even have been pointed out as cheat, but they are sparse and far apart in time. Cheaters make mistakes more often and in shorter periods.

the game has just started, he picked up the first rail and made the only logical move: go to ra right before the second ra spawns to snipe the enemy team. since there is just one rail out he only has to worry about plasma, which he dodges by hiding behind the wall. he misses a lot here, probably didn't zoom and/or care enough, the enemy he caught in the end did the most retarded move he possibly could: first firing at him from the outter part of the ra platform to then jumping at him over the pillars in a straight line, it was near impossible to miss that shot.

00:39-
first quad is about to spawn, the time is of course unknown to the players, therefore everyone tries hard to stay close to the pit. both his enemies made lots of noise before he hit those rails, which were simple point and click in the end, the second one looks hard but isn't: he knew that the guy was up at rl and could even tell the angle with which the guy was looking down to quad from his rl spam, there aren't too many different ways to drop from rl to quad when you have the cues he had. overall pretty sloppy execution though, he should've stayed hidden at a better place before the first rail and could not prevent the quad pickup with his second.

00:50-
that is just seconds later from the last scene, quad had got taken (and the second ya was coming up) and he knew it was weak and that the second enemy had just respawned. he spammed lg at the door to scare off the enemies (going up stairs against shaft is suicide in most cases) so he can take the ya in peace, it worked out fine eventhough he mostly shoots at the door, not the entrance he should have shot at.

01:00-
this is again a scene that evolved out of the last one. he scared off the two enemies at ya and then went to rail and probably realized that they were going to rl, instead of pg/ra, and went up the rail jumppad to hit a prediction rail, and fails. he knew that a) both enemies were coming from rl to ra and b) that ra was about to spawn soon, instead of waiting and using zoom to hit a comfortable shot he tried to do something better and fucks up. the second rail isn't worth mentioning, he saw both enemies at ra and simply waits for them to shoot at him again with rockets, he could have (and probably should have) waited for an enemy to jump over pillars instead of predicting them to do the dumb thing: attack him with rl/sg against rail in a long distance fight. in the end, one of the enemies actually does the dumb thing and fires at him, yet he still misses that shot and can't do anything against the enemy escaping towards rl.

01:47-
you can see that an enemy had just died at rail and he probably knew/predicted there was another one around, so he waited for another one of those point and click rails.

02:15-
he shoots the first rocket after having seen the enemy, thinking that he might not have realized he could have been seen from there and would go for rl, misses by a mile though. the other shots are two players testing each other over sound cues and explosions mostly, he hits shockingly little and even drops off the rl platform eventhough the enemy backs off back to ra in the end.

03:25-
he hides at rail and comes out when he hears the rail spawning, then sees an enemy going to rl and waits, again, for a simple point and click rail and the guy to come back. that worked out well, for once.

03:45-
most better players do that, aim at the center of the jumppad and you will find out that most suckers (and those who are good, but lazy) will look/shoot down from the middle of the pad. add to that the fact that he hears the enemy shooting rockets at his mate and even sees him for a second. it's not too hard a shot and something you'll see plenty of times done even on publics.

that scene is a joke, he obviously knew (from sounds and previous knowledge) that there was a high chance that he could sneak in there and get some sg shots in at easy targets. quite badly played by his enemies, they should have protected the 50hp entrance and not turn their backs to it.

he hears the guy at shards and for whatever reason is afraid of someone coming up the rail jumppad, then aims at the space between pillars and ra, which is standard play.

07:05-
someone is getting desperate, yet another scene where he simply waits for an obvious point and click rail, again the execution was pretty sloppy and he misses the shot.

07:27-
this scene is right after the last one, which is important: he probably picked up ra in the last one and knows that the next one is about to spawn. therefore he carelessly attacks an enemy because he knows he's much better stacked and can assume the enemy does not know ra timings for obvious reasons. he dodges around the pillars against an enemy with rail out, sound cues and a little experience do explain his movements pretty well. all he needed to do was to protect the jumppad so that he didn't lose ra, he barely succeeds in doing so because he misses so many rails.

11:25-
he most probably had just spawned either at lg or below rail and goes up the stairs to bridge and simply fucks up, here's why: he rightly assumes that his last killer will be on the hunt for respawns and one of the best locations for that is bridge, but instead of either rushing up, turning away or walking up the stairs to see if he can hear an incoming enemy he does everything at once. first he rushes stairs, than stops to walk but is too far up already and gets caught, very lazy play.

13:15-
that looks nice, but again he set the shot up and isn't too quick to react at all, not very impressive or noteworthy.

18:50-
he walks from ra to rl and spams the corner where most people are waiting when they want to ambush you, his mate had just died below rail/bridge, which might have been his reason to attack rl.

11:46-
he does very bad here, but there seems to be the need for some explanation still. he saw the enemy rjumping up to ra and can assume that he might be low on health and armor, even after he hears him pick up the ra. it's not the dumbest move ever to predict an enemy with lg who just picked up ra to attack someone with low health and rail dropping down from pillars. two rails are still 160hp, he knew the enemy was weakened and there was a chance of this succeeding. in the end, he completely fucks that up though. him predicting the enemy movements isn't too hard, sound cues from ra pickup, then actually seeing him drop down to later shaft hum are pretty obvious.

just 05:41-

his crosshair is very close to the left wall, but still he hits the incoming enemy with ease.
The thing is, the human reaction time is limited and not only that, he adjusted the crosshair just before the enemy became visible.

Yes it's a standard shot, but not with the crosshair so far left to the wall.

yeah, his crosshair was too far on the left at first, but he realizes that aswell and corrects it right before the enemy jumps towards ra, which makes the shot easy again.

it's looks suspicious because it is so close to the enemy movement, but you have to take into consideration that he sees his mates' triangle coming from rl to ra and assumes that the enemy is in front of his mate fighting for ra. after the triangle drops down from pillars (losing the fight) he is right to assume that with the threat now gone, the enemy player will soon turn to ra, which he does.

it actually stays too far left, it looks like he adjust it only about 2 pixels to the right.

i disagree, that's pretty much were the crosshair has to be if you want to have a chance of hitting someone jumping over the further away pillar to the other end of the ra platform (as in, not staying next to the wall).

some people do that, because almost everyone assumes people will try to hide behind the wall as long as they can when going over to ra. if you're too far in the middle with your crosshair you end up not having enough time to trigger the shot, well, in my opinion of course :)

These perfectly timed micro movements look especially weird to me.

the first one, he falls down and aims at the ledge left of the pillar in front of him, which is good, because people will be there to shoot down at the 25hp, a point where a hurt player like him would go.

then ra is picked up and he realizes the guy might be out to attack him and looks to the right, the place where people usually drop to (not as easily trapped there). he tries to get the railshot but is too late, could be someone used to low ping & luck? :d

the second one, i don't know, could be a coincidence, him looking to the left for the enemy with rl to shoot at him, then mid and predicts right.

In the first scene, the enemy picks up RA, then goes left, then immediately goes right. His crosshair follows him going left AND right, so that's 2 perfectly accurate predictions within 0.5 seconds.

The important thing is, though:
The crosshair _follows_ him while doing a circle strafe to the POV's left and then immediately reacts when he heads towards the POV's right and drops down.
This might be coincidence, but to me, it doesn't look like that.

And I don't think you can explain what happens within 0.5 seconds by conscious thinking. His crosshair movement was either intuitive and lucky -- or led by a wallhack.

i think you can explain both situations with conscious thinking, experience and quite an amount of luck. like you originally said, 'on a roll and really lucky', just minus the 'uber pro'.

why i'm still sure that guy is not cheating, is that
a) he doesn't randomly lock on enemies through walls as much as most wh'ers i've seen do,
b) eventhough it looks hack'ish, he rarely benefits in most of the scenes, in the vid he does pretty bad overall. it's either someone very conscious about hiding his hacks or one who would actually play better without them.

the 'tracking' he's doing in those two scenes can be explained by someone making an effort to predict his enemies movement, as i wrote above:
the idea to check the different 'parts' of the jumppad ledges for an enemy peaking/dropping down could be skill, it's the most logical thing to do (imo). he's done stunningly well there though :d

I am a div1 player and doing ok. Henk isn't participating in HoQ but he's of similar skill to me, whereas Omlas is totally unknown and immediately jumped into conclusions that I've shown a video of semi-noob owning noobs, attributed all the dodgy shots to "knowing angles" and dismissed the case in a stupid manner.

I may have overreacted and come off as cocky but here I am spending a few hours of dreary demo analysis in hope of making a credible case and the guy implies I don't know how to hit a RG->RA rail on dm6. Nevertheless, I apologize for that statement.

btw, im sure CSI would find tons of cheaters on american servers, but it's not worth it because they are mainly mid tier CA and duel players.

There are always cheaters in online game, for some reason quake has had a naive attitude of "nobody cheats in quake" for so long.

As long as they help clean the EU competitive scene one by one, I'm happy. Still, an anticheat is desperately needed.
