To be perfectly honest. Your mod is probably fucking amazing. But quake 4 is dead. You should have coded a whole new game from the ground up and sold it or worked on modes for others games. :\

point is, whats the point in starting a whole new game. without the engine, Q43A makes Q4 a whole new game,, with new gameplay, atmosphere, feel, looks etc, it just has q4 assets with q4 having a history of being shit and full of bugs and glitches

it wouldnt matter if the mod has a few new maps or models like some other Q4 mods. they are dead because the code is shit and gameplay is still all basic idtech4 shit

its teh same with doom 3, SP mods might get played, but MP code is still a bag of shit and full of bugs and glitches and never got played much

Q4 mp was just suppose to be Q3 with a new engine, but failed, 6 yrs later not including q4 v1.0 releases there is Q43A which is Q3+UT

if Q43A was a total conversion and had new maps and models, it wouldnt be quake

why, the past of Q4 has nothing todo with Q43A, people dont actually get that most of the driver has been recoded and then they delete most pk4 and piss around instead of just loading Q43A then its their problem

all q43a_.pk4s are needed. the only thing you can put in the q43a folder are maps made for q4mp

not other mods junks and bullshit, if you want a custom hud for MP, use the template in the q43a_custom_hud.pk4

the only real flaw in q4 engine is the low FPS, which you dont notice on a modern PC. all other bugs and game crashes are in the non Q43A driver source

put the Q43A folder in the quake 4 install folder, load q4, goto the mods menu and load Q43A

or make a desktop shortcut to quake4.exe, and add +set fs_game q43a to the commandline

no pissing around to start servers or singleplayer like all other wank mods

Q43A is unofficial patch and how q4 should have been on release

all q43a_.pk4 are needed for it to work correctly, only maps for q4mp can be added, unless new maps are made with q43a gametypes in maps.def

why would i want to play it?

cos it has everything, better performance, Q3 feel of gameplay, and having to use strafe and bunny hopping like in Q3 games, ,better ramp jumping, all original game bugs and glitches fixed,

fully recoded projectile, no hitscan, better render, water can be used in maps for sp and mp with bouyancy etc and hud overlay and projectile tint _color set in map for the water entity

can do vehicles aslong as there are no map restarts on dedicated servers

can do 128 player servers

can make custom maps and player models

can do alot of stuff and configure games and servers in 100 possible combinations so favorites in server browsers arnt just about ping

and who give a fuck, the mod is dead. and im never releasing the source for all the wannabe and suckasses to use, if you want the goods, you gotta kick ass on Q43A

because i logged into moddb and pressed the arhive button, then posted this thread, and said Q43A is now dead/ i cannot be bothered with it no more, i code it all, 100% of it is mine

whats not too like, it has everything, all menus are all clean, it can handle 128 players cos of that shit hot recoding and saving aload of processin on every entity spawned and also allows all the new features to be used in actual gameplay on online n shit +you can configure a server to your liking

n all the water and moveables and vehicles and animated flashlights, and voicetaunts and so on and so on, and bunny hopping and strafe jumping and dodge jumping, guided projectile from POV, 100% customizble MP player models............. and so on

aint no tech demo, it all worth smooth as silk in proper gameplay,

idtech4 sucks under the renderer

you still dont get it, performance is better is Q43A, and all the recoding and cleaning up, on a modern PC when playing a dedicated server online, you will not notice to renderer floating point whatever flaw pre quakewars idtech4 has

only the code needed to be run on either server or client is run, while snapshot from server wont overwrite client prediction frames,

the code is all clean, and hsa alot better performance, press ESC while connected to a dedicated server and the menu will be a slow and sluggish, unless you are playing Q43A,

the driver SDK is a serious shit dump, unless you have Q43A source

all entities spawned in game are running 99% of code that is in the driver frame think, server and client does aload of stuff is doesnt need to, unless you have Q43A source

to make everything work in Q43A and add all the new features, most ofthe .cpp in game SLN have been recoded

in a action packed game, there can be 100k entities per frame of shit dump code to be wasting processing time

hardly dedication, the code in the driver is not real complex, it is 90% vectors and bools.

when you have worked out how all virtual/child classes work and every single .game.cpp will lead back to entity.cpp that act as the entity spawnclasses in def files,,,. besides game_local and game_network, the recoding it all is kind of easy, along with adding most of the new features. and after a while you just know what bits of code need to be run on the server or client

in the whole of Q43A, there is no code of mine that is more complex then some of whats in null nuke, and there is no code anywhere that is more complex then anything in null nuke

the driver code dont even compare or compete to some parts of null
