For the last three days I've timed out connecting to quakelive. It hasn't happened with any other sites that I've found and I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem?
The freeze@quit is back for me, it started yesterday. I have to kill the task or wait about 40 seconds if I want to quit from the game, so it's not normal here.
I just want to add it doesn't work on any browser, not just firefox. I'm in the US. I've tried shutting down and restarting my modem/router as well. Nothing works.
No I wasn't cheating. Sounds like something a cheater would say, but I haven't even played in over a week and a half so I'm not sure where a report would even come from unless someone else is on my account.
Comp is returning the correct address on lookup. Five people have checked my account and seen that it still works just fine. So I'm not banned, but I can't get a response from the site.
Are you stupid? I'm not banned. It was confirmed by people who logged into my account and played on it, now it's been confirmed by ID directly who are helping me sort out the problem.
You don't play. You have no reason to be here, and even less of a reason going around telling me I've been banned like you have a clue what you're talking about. It's a technical issue on IDs end and they're trying to figure out where the hitch is in the routing.
Maybe if you weren't so quick to talk smack and accuse everyone of everything under the sun and see how incredibly stupid and misinformed you sound you wouldn't be so quick to open that meatflap you call a mouth.
What do you mean Karma? You're an unintelligible loser who wastes his life on here crying about a game he doesn't/can't even play. Every time someone tells you this it's like someone is sounding off air raid sirens and flashing blue and red lights telling you to step off the internet and get a god damned life.
What do you do? Come in here talking more shit trying your best to bring everyone down. Nobody wants you here. Nobody cares what you have to say. Me especially while I'm trying to sort out a problem with the game I enjoy playing.
If you want to stalk me around the forum fine, whatever. It doesn't mean I'm going to get all butt hurt about it like you are with me. Oh no, someone said mean things to me on the internet whatever shall I do! You're answer to that? Stalk them and claim through some half-wit understanding of buddhism that you being a twat is somehow karma related?
are you guys joking? I really doubt that Quakelive "IP bans" people at the HTTP or TCP level. I could be wrong, but that's absurd and completely counterintuitive to anyone who knows anything.
there is no reason to assume this to be the case, at any rate. it does not at all sound like a DNS issue, either. timing out means he's already got an IP address... jesus, seriously.
there's probably just an issue with whomever your ISP uses for transit/peering.
can you provide a bit more information? DNS lookup of the QL hostname, ping, traceroute, ...? perhaps Firebug or Wireshark logs of the connection attempt? try a new browser, clear cookies, clear cache, make sure you're not connecting through a proxy. check what your external IP address and verify it against some website like http://www.whatsmyip.org/ to make sure your ISP isn't sending you through a transparent proxy, as well.
I don't really know what you're talking about. I'm not even sure who you are even though I see you mentioned all over the forums of late.. but yeah, id can ban IPs, sure. it just wouldn't happen at such a low level. they'd ban the IP from logging into the site, or connecting to the game servers, more than likely.
I think my ISP actually resolved itself because a day or so ago it just came back online for no reason. Ordus didn't have a clue, and I didn't feel like sitting on the phone for an hour on hold with my ISP, so I guess it just reset or something.
I would be curious to know what caused it, as it happened across all browsers even with all the clearing of what you mentioned Tyryl. I tried everything I could think of. I even rolled back versions of firefox to see if an update caused it somewhere.
Still, it works now. Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it.
yeah, that's what I figured. it's the most likely thing; there isn't a reason to jump to conclusions. those things just happen from time to time and they usually fix themselves (well, technically some network admin probably fixes them, eventually).
Also, if I was banned for some reason, you'd think it would be prudent to tell me why, and ban my login from other computers as well. that didn't happen, which is why what people were saying here made no sense.
