If the loser bracket's player has to win him in one set only, then in a set of 5 he usually has to win one less, 4. It could also be 5, depending on the tourney rules (x or x-1).

Traditionally and by definition the lb player had to win 2 sets, but many tourneys changed that.

so it depends on the tourney's rules

1st. FULL double elimination. Losser have to win 2 bo3, winner have to win 1 bo3. (coz if winner loss first set, he gets knockdown to loser bracket).
2nd. Double elimination. if bo5, winner gets +1 map, means leading 1:0 in bo5.

also: in a best of 5 you have to win 3 maps, not 5 or 4, but 3 maps and if you come from the winners bracket with the 1 map compensation, that means winning just 2 maps.

ur "also" is good and valid (what I described was best of 9), the rest not.

Check the link for double elimination. He defined double elimination the way he liked and then gave a new name (full double elimination) to double elimination's actual definition.

yes I know, just wanted to add that the 'full double elimination' thing is exclusive to russians for some reason. i've heared it plenty of time on russian forums/streams and never on english speaking sites.

You mean Starcraft 2? I think its standard double elim, but your group standing determines your position in brackets. So the winners of each group get placed directly to upper bracket semi's. Final is bo7.

This could be wrong though they use a pretty confusing system.

Not to mention the whole 'extended series' can-of-worms.
