really good. the rest really comes up to your own artistic thoughts and beliefs.

1.maybe some additional mixing work is needed to vary the overall atmosphere from track to track. like changing the positioning of the instruments or change the focus on instruments. that shifting could even happen in a single track.

2. also i think the drums don't get the right pressure in heavy instrumented parts and yes, the sax should get some bumping atleast sometimes, doesnt have to be the whole track

3. the outros and intros could also get some more attention, but again, that's really up to you.

example for a good mixing and mastering quality is maybe something like this

but you should maybe wait for some real metalhead :P

This was the first recording ever for the saxophonist, the drummer and me (bass), so we realize we're the weak links. :)

1. that's a good point. Due to the lack of vocals, we'll probably have to work on shifting around the focus on the instruments, in order to keep things interesting.

2. agree. Drums are rather inconsistent in their volume and their accentuations sometimes don't work. This needs some tweaking.

3. also agree. For example, I don't really like the beginning of "Sechs", but I don't know how to change it.... shortening it would probably be worth a try. Maybe to 1/2 of the duration.
Plus, it might be a good idea to have the distorted sound of the right guitar _much_ louder, so that it really blows you away. I would also move it to center then. At the moment, it sounds kinda uninspired.

We don't really strive to be metal, but interesting that you classify it as such. :)

Just listening to the first track, it's pretty cool. Sax definitely needs to come up in volume imo. Also I think the bass may be bit too loud, it sounds kind of boomy.

Was this recorded to a click? Some pretty bad timing issues, really noticeable with the drums around 3 mins.

Nope, it wasn't recorded to a click. Yeah, I also noticed the bassdrum at 3 mins, it's totally off. There's lots of timing issues, increasing speed and unintented 7/8 measures in the other songs, too. ;)

But as I said, drums/bass/sax did this without any recording experience and we had ~1/2 day for each instrument, 3 days total for the recording.
Thus, we're pretty psyched about the result overall, even though there's many parts we wish we could just play all over again.

Guitars were recorded coming out the box with a couple of mics. It's being mixed by a buddy of ours using LogicPro. I'm not sure what else is relevant, ask what you want to know. :)
