Edit: Next time you should discuss (and advertise) tdmpickup.eu, how pickups help players and community, upsides and downsides, voicecom y/n and such. Probably do some research playing them more. :)

issue with cheaters going to play at LAN is that it encourages them to play online using a fake account as practice before it, but unfortunately without dedicated servers you can never be entirely sure who somebody is without first contacting ID for an IP check.. if that's even possible anyway.. heck even PB gave you some form of additional identification back in the day.

i don't see an issue with cheaters going to lan (usually, with ql accounts it's a little different as you mentioned), but individuals and teams who know various fake nicks should make their own stance against the bans and not give them the opportunity to practice - more so in TDM than 1v1 since TDM is a lot more transparent in everything that goes on, whilst in 1v1 it would be a lot more difficult on a day to day basis and on random public servers.

Well i don't know about what my stance about a cheater would be.
I can get someone being stupid, but also I can get someone trying to redeem for something.
QL lans are scars as it is so there is really not many chances for someone to prove their worth that way.

About letting a cheater play in an online games, my first reaction is hell no. Yet what if we get the darned AC, would we allow someone like ZeroQL to play again?

The things is, all I know about that guy is that he has played well on LAN, has been around in the community doing movies, and has given something to this game. The real issue here would be, is he valuable enough to let him return with AC on, or do we distrust him to the end of QL.

So the better question is, what happens with someone like ZeroQL when AC comes to this game?

They mentioned that zeroql was fakenicking but not forgot to say that he was cheating again in that pcws.

Anyone who cheats, online or offline, should be removed from the game and community. Zero tolerance, 100% trust in all players.

Without zero tolerance on cheating, it completely diminishes the motivation to become a top player.

Just watched it. Great 2nd show imo (30mins wins) with good inclusion of topical movies/promo vids, features, leagues updates etc. Lots of good stuff and a good question to pose to the community with regards zeroql hoping to compete at a lan....

It's only a pity that you peaked in the 1st minute with the hilarious intro: "I am Disrepute and joining me is probably uh, the biggest name in the UK, the number one bounce pad aimer in all of quake, the prophet of the quake universe, our spiritual leader that is vor" - *priceless lvl^ stuff*, the next 29 mins for me was just lolling at the opening statement!

the part about the tdm@qlranks felt a bit pointless for example. would have liked to hear their thoughts about ranking players vs ranking clans, ranking public games and possible abuse, negative effects vs positive effects, motivation to compete etc
and their discussion about online cheaters at lan would have been perfect for some open phone thing (if it would have been live)

Yeah good point. We really wanted to stick to 30 mins and for it to be a news overview show. I would like to do longer discussion shows too.

News podcast should be done, and then it could cover more grounds. Competitive, video and more quake titles kind of a thing.

But then the name We're talking it would be better suited for that other kind of show. The interactive one with guests and irc comments etc.

But I guess it's all about timing in each case. Can't really be up to date with news if you do fix day show because maybe tomorrow there will be some announcement which negates your news or is something big which you'll cover in weeks time and by then it could be too late.
Fixed day would be good for the other show, so you can gather people interested and they can rely on the fixed time.

You have good ideas, but you'll have to either spread out taking more people to work on this, and cover more topics and invest more time, or make 2 shows which would then cover more and be a little more intense in content. Given that something is going on.

But you already have a hell of a lot material done since the start of QL to plan next few shows.

well, at least QW and Q2 could have been included!

Never played QW or Q2 and I don't think there is any real crossover between the communities. It wont happen in this show, but we would be happy perhaps to represent Quake Live in a show covering multiple games.

Hi, i don't know much about audio compression and on the fly compression, you can try out this free program from sourceforge it is a free audio editior ... but i tought of mixing two or three audio channels together and getting the mic compression up 8)
