Reasonable, is, as everything, relative. It depends on what you want to achieve. You seem to be confusing what's reasonable with what's right.

Under some circumstances, such as you being a massive shitty, yes, it is reasonable. Is it the right thing to do? No. You're big mistake is that you're seeing things only from your perspective. Nothing will happen to a person if he is banned. He will just go on with his life. Banning is not a punishment for cheater, it doesn't affect him that much or provide an incentive for him to correct his behaviour. The purpose of ban is just to clean our environment so that we, honest players, can continue to enjoy fair games. There is no reason to even care what to do with a player after he is banned.

You have to go out of your way to acquire and run these cheats. It's not like quake (live) has some kind of aim assist built in (at least on the pc) that you have to disable. That's a mistake, "Sorry guys, forgot to turn auto-aim off. Stupid feature, my bad." Downloading, installing, running, and setting up a cheat is hardly a spur of the moment thing where you'd forget you had it running.

Especially when you do it more than once, aren't completely truthful when caught, and are helping someone to try and improve the cheat.
